WHAT I WORE: Macarons from Coco & Duckie

Monday, April 18, 2016

Last week, I shared this outfit of the day post that featured a Cinderella necklace from Coco and Duckie.  Coco and Duckie is a boutique located in Bellville, TX.  They specialize in offering items that you won't find elsewhere.  If you can't visit the store in person, you can also shop their online store at www.cocoandduckie.com.   I love wearing unique pieces and as soon as I saw the Cinderella necklace, I knew this was the shop for me!  I perused their website and found some other great items like today's OOTD post's macaron accessories.

Unless you've been hiding under a rock over the last few years, macarons have become a very popular dessert here in the U.S.  I'll admit that my first experience with macarons wasn't the greatest. I wasn't impressed. Since then, I've have several more, in all types of flavors, and I can now say that I'm officially a fan!  I could NOT pass up the opportunity to style this macaron set when I found it on the Coco and Duckie website. One of the macarons even has a bite missing from it! I'm still not sure which piece is my favorite between the Cinderella necklace and the macarons, but one thing's for sure; I'll be a returning customer.  Whether it's for myself or buying a gift, I really like everything that Coco and Duckie had to offer.  So much so, that I wanted to find out more about the brand, especially where the name came from:

Where does the name Coco and Duckie come from?
Coco and Duckie are the nicknames for myself and my sister. We actually don't remember how we got them but we tease our mom about being the 'and' since she is the 'glue' between us.

What inspired your family to create this boutique full of unique items?
My Mom (Denise) and my Mimi (Doris) started a gift and toy shop back in the 1980's. I have been around retail my whole life. In 2007, my mom, Madeline (Coco) and I wanted to start something that was a little different. We aspired to create a space that was like a mini retreat for our shoppers. A place where they could feel relaxed, refreshed & leave with something very unique! We wanted to offer our customers pieces that they wouldn't see duplicated elsewhere.  We wanted them to be able to express themselves through their personal style and feel totally original!

Where are some of the places you go to find these special baubles?
We love to travel; most of our artists were found serendipitously while wandering. I found the fairy tale jewelry while I was on vacation in Paris a few years ago.  My mom found Ayala Bar through a friend, etc. We are always on the hunt! We love finding new artists!
