NEW YORK FASHION WEEK: Day One Favorites - Spring 2016 Collections

Sunday, September 13, 2015

As you all know, I love fashion week, er I should say fashion month! The best of the best presenting their Ready to Wear collections for the season to come. New York Fashion Week kicked off on Thursday, September 10th. Sadly I did not attend in person this year, because I'm trying to save money.  If you've ever traveled to New York, you know that it's not a cheap stay, and imagine staying 8-12 days, like I do for Fashion Week!! So anyway, I did not go this year, but I'm still doing the daily trend reports for Fashion Mingle, and I wanted to blog about some of my favorite collections on my site! Let me know what you think of my picks!

My favorite collection of the day was by Tadashi Shoji. Ever since I discovered him September 2013, I've been in love with his dresses! They always make me think of dancers in a world of tulle. He hits many silhouettes from sheath length, to midi, to full length ball gowns. If only I was rich and had somewhere nice to wear one of his gowns! I would definitely get one custom for my size! I'm in love with the striking blue color that he introduced mid-runway.

I would rock every last one of these girly, but edgy looks. I love the color spectrum that Marissa took us on from pastel purple, to vibrant shades of red and yellow, toned down with safari green. The safari green looks are my favorite, followed by the plaid with lace overlays near the end of the collection.

Flowing fabrics, shear fabrics, baby doll dresses, peplum, and even a pair of overalls brought Erin Fetherston's collection in as my number 3 pick. I loved the styling of the models with just straight long hair, and some with headbands (I love headbands!). And her runway featured one of my favorite silhouettes, the maxi dress, and she had a bunch of them! Several of her looks featured sheer cape-lets and blazers with ties. I basically loved everything.
