EVENTS: Houston African American Bloggers Bootcamp

Sunday, August 16, 2015

Y'all know I love being apart of blogger groups. If there's a blogger community that I can be apart of, I'm registering. Not only are blogger groups essential for knowledge transfer and growing a successful blog, but they lead to new friendships and a plethora of opportunities. I learned this early on in my blogging career after I joined Independent Fashion Bloggers. That organization was one of the main reasons I created Houston Fashion Bloggers! I'm a member of Houston Bloggers, Houston Blogger Social Club, HFB, and now Houston African-American Bloggers. Vernetta Freeney, a long-time friend of mine, is now in charge of HAAB, and she is really taking the group to the next level! I'm excited to see where the group ends up. Vernetta has hosted several meetups for the members of HAAB, but this was the first bootcamp. She invited me to be on the "Creating A Brand" panel. I was on the panel with Naturally Happy Hair creator, Crystal Knight. The bootcamp was held August 1st in Crosby, Tx. This was definitely my first time in Crosby....I didn't even know a Crosby, Texas existed! While the location was a tad far, the event was a great success. Several members of the group showed up to hear from those of us on the panels, and have their blogs critiqued.

2nd panel was on "Building A Brand" with the main theme, being "Get that Money"! Panelists for this session were Tomayia Colvin of Senior Study Hall Magazine and Tomayia Colvin Photography, Brother Jesse of Bro Jesse Blogs and The Final Calland Chimere Norris of Naturally Happy Hair.

Of course I had to take a picture with my friend and host, Vernetta Freeney!
