WHAT I WORE: Relaxed Patriotism

Saturday, July 12, 2014

When it comes to the 4th of July, I take wearing red, white, & blue pretty seriously. I don't think there's been one year where I haven't put together some type of red, white, & blue for America's birthday! This past 4th of July, I received media passes to go to Southwest's Freedom Over Texas, Houston's premier 4th of July Extravaganza. This is my second year attending this event as press. Last year I attended and the featured singers were Martina McBride and Sheryl Crow. This year the featured artist was country singer Jennifer Nettles with special guests Chip Esten and Clare Bown from the hit ABC TV Show, Nashville.  So who was I more excited about? I have a little confession! I'm a recent country music fan! My whole life I've sworn off country music (except for crossover artists like Carrie Underwood, Taylor Swift, etc.), but ever since I started watching Nashville, I've become obsessed with Country twang! I love all the songs on the show, and it really helped churn my interest in country music, so I was definitely more excited to see Chip and Clare! Chip plays Deacon Claybourne on the show and Clare plays his niece Scarlett O'Connor, but I'll talk more on the actual event in my next post! Today is all about the outfit.

I don't think I've ever worn a vest that has received sooo many compliments. People were stopping me every which way to find out where my vest was from.  The vest is from Langford Market.
American Flags: Picked up from Krogers
Sunglasses: MICHAEL Michael Kors
Lipstick: Revlon Really Red
Earrings: Christmas Present (Overstock.com)
Vest: Langford Market
Tank Top: Express
Watch: MICHAEL Michael Kors
Shorts: Forever 21
Flats: Payless

Even my media badge was patriotic!
I love that the vest was tan and not white! White gets dirty too quickly and it gave the flag vest a vintage feel!

They're a little dusty in this pic from walking in the dirt, but I purchased these flats last year for the 4th of July and they were perfect for hanging out in the grass & walking around.

  1. I love that vest! At first look I thought it was a scarf.

    1. Thanks Tammy! It can definitely double as a scarf and in fact that makes it even better! More options to wear it!
