EVENT RECAP: Hanh Tran Art Gallery Opening

Friday, June 13, 2014

Being that I'm a 'Fashion' Blogger, it might appear that my only interest is Fashion, but that is far from the truth! I love a lot of things: Cars, Superheros, Movies, Books, Music, Cats, Food, etc. Lately I've been trying to spend more time doing other things I enjoy, including art events, so when I received the invitation to attend Hanh Tran's Art Gallery Opening benefiting The Rise School, I was there!  For quite some time now, I've been hearing the name Hanh Tran in and around Houston and definitely wanted to meet her! Hanh is a very talented painter that takes her talent beyond the canvas by creating wearable art for The Hanh Collection. In addition to this, she's heavily involved in the Houston charity scene having partnered with Handbags & Heroes for an event at David Peck and now hosting her own event to benefit The Rise School. The Rise School is a 501(c)3 school dedicated to educating young children born with Down Syndrome and developmental disabilities. To create something unique to raise money for The Rise School, Hanh partnered with Houston Dynamo Defender, Michael Chabala to create a Houston-themed painting to auction.
Hmm...I wonder what part of this painting Footballer Mike painted?

Painted totes & clutches for sale
Cute bracelets for sale at $55 to benefit The Rise School
I like Hanh's painting style.  If you see the paintings up close they are very textured with layers of paint, so you want to reach out and touch them. I also like how when you are standing up close to them it looks like a lot of paint, but when you back up you make out distinct forms. It's a really cool affect! I would be honored to have a piece in my future house!
I think everyone needs this bracelet....lol

Texas Longhorn!
I hope that's not a Voodoo doll! Haha, Cute Mugs and Coasters
You can tell Hanh loves Texas!
There was a blank canvas for Hanh's guests to sign! Can you find my message?

Another picture with the lovely artist
Of course I had to snag a picture with both Hanh and Michael Chabala
