WHAT I WORE: Let's just call it Plaid, Shall We?

Thursday, December 05, 2013

I recently read an article making fun of Fashion Bloggers for always coming up with ways to shorten words...well now it's my turn to laugh...at the use of the term Tartan when discussing Plaid.  Half of the world is trying to shorten everything into acronymns and hashtags, and it seems the other half ois trying to make things sound classier than they really are. Faux-fur and leather have become vegan-leather or eco-fur, and now the good 'old plaid that we've been calling PLAID forever is now Tartan.  I get it. Tartan is what they call the "plaid" scarf in Scotland....but do we all live in Scotland? Plaid is plaid, and now back to my outfit!

This is what I put together (veryyyyyyy last minute) to wear to Fall + Fashion & Fiats Event.  I barely had time in the days leading up to the event to plan the outfit ahead of time, and with getting out of work right before the event, I had about 5 minutes to stop home, change, and jet across town. The only thing faster than a dress is leggings and a tunic, and they're probably faster because depending on your decision to go tightless or not, with dress you have to shave! Ha! I recently ordered both of these items from Forever 21, and they happened to be waiting for me in the box when I returned home. When I first ordered these, I had planned to wear them together, so it was an already complete look just waiting to be worn!

I added the "technically" knee-high socks to my ensemble to increase the height illusion  of my booties. I didn't want to wear full knee-high or OTK boots with my leggings, but I tend to get annoyed with that gab between the bottom of my leggings and booties, so the socks were the perfect fix!
