MERCEDES-BENZ FASHION WEEK: Joanna Mastroianni Spring 2014 Collection

Saturday, September 14, 2013

I fell in love with Joanna Mastroianni this past February when I viewed her F/W 2014 collection. In fact it was one of my FAVORITES, so needless to say I was very excited to see her Spring 2014 collection. Joanna took her inspiration for Spring from Gaudi, an Catalan architect
“The organic brilliant architecture of Gaudi is my vision for Spring 2014. My admiration for his innovative use of materials and engineering inspired me to create a flirty, seductive and playful collection. It was a labor of love to translate his great works of architecture into something feminine, contemporary and most importantly wearable.” ~Joanna Mastroianni
I really enjoyed the collection from the mosaic black and white prints, to the colorful gowns that closed the show. I thought it was very cohesive, and there really was a look for everyone in there.  From the working girl, to the party girl, there was something in the line for everyone.  I like finding out that she was inspired by an architect. Again as I always say there is a very thin line between the math and science fields and the creative fashion industry.  Inspiration can be picked up from anywhere!

“I wanted to take the viewer on a magical journey, much like Gaudi does through his works,” says Mastroianni, “My wish is to entertain and surprise the eyes as the garments come to life on the runway. The ‘curve’ is the connecting thread for the entire collection.”
