MERCEDES-BENZ FASHION WEEK - Candela Spring 2014 Collection

Friday, September 06, 2013

One of my favorite collections from day one of Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week (MBFW) was presented by Candela at BOX.  MBFW is split into 4 viewing arenas:  Box, Studio, Stage, & Theater in that order from smallest to biggest. If a collection is presenting in BOX, they won't actually have a runway, but the models will be standing for a mannequin-esque type of presentation.  Event though this doesn't have the added affect of a runway, I actually really like presentations in box.  You are able to get up and close with the garments, and really see details, as opposed to seeing them rush by you on the runway. I was really impressed with the garments at Candela.  I liked the overall theme for Spring, which I took to be almost shipwrecked nautical beauty.  the models in the front, were poised, with their hair perfectly done, but going around some of the hair became disheveled with fun braids, like how your hair would look after days at see.  Candela is moving away from the trend of bright colors for the Spring, and presented a collection of neutral tones, with some black and blue mixed in.  Everything looked impeccably made even down to the shoes! Take a look, and let me know what you think?

  1. I love the nautical look. Crisp, cool, disheveled, perfect. I think the box idea gives designers more of a chance to bring their whole collection together. I'm really loving the coiffed hair-styles too.
