WHAT I WORE: Ode to Fashions' Night Out

Tuesday, May 21, 2013

I'm sure I'm not alone in my sadness for the cancellation of this year's Fashions' Night Out. :-(.  I am fully aware that the evening was getting out of control, and had outlived it's initial usefulness which was to bring back commerce to shops during the recession. Over the years stores seemed to be spending more money to host an event or celebrity for their FNO that cost them more $$ and drama (security, long lines, pushing & shoving) than what they were raking in. Here is the "official" statement from FNO on the cancellation:

Launched in New York City at the height of the 2009 recession, Fashion's Night Out was a celebration of shopping during a time when it was sorely needed. By 2012, FNO had expanded to stores in over 500 cities nationwide and 30 cities around the globe.

After four exciting and successful years, Fashion’s Night Out will go on hiatus in the United States in 2013, in order to enable retailers to channel their resources to other priorities. The event will still be held in select international cities. For more information, click here.

We'd like to say THANK YOU from the bottom of our hearts for supporting the initiative, and for helping us to raise over $1.5 million for the New York City AIDS Fund in the New York Community Trust. We couldn’t have possibly done it without you!

It is for this reason that I am super happy that I got to experience FNO in Manhattan last year. It was the best FNO ever! You can read about it HERE. While I was there I purchased this FNO shirt from Bloomingdales. My first purchase ever at that store, and I've coveted it ever since!

FNO Shirt: Bloomingdales Manhattan, NY
Jeans: H&M
Necklace: c/o JewelMint
Watch: Michael Kors
Shades: c/o SunglassesShop
Sneakers: Michael Kors
Vest: Forever 21

While I was taking my photos, I thought the clouds and color of the sky were really pretty, so I took these random shots in the middle of my photo op...hahahahaha!
