THE EVENT: Houston Made

Thursday, May 16, 2013

Inspired to generate change in light of the horrific events of the factory collaspe in Bangladesh, 3 Houston designers came up with an event to showcase their solidarity in having their clothes made in the U.S., and not only the U.S. but good 'ol Houston, Texas.  David Peck, Jonathan Blake and Amir Taghi joined forces with Donae Chramosta of The Vintage Contessa to bring a one-of-a-kind fashion presentation to the fashionista/os in Houston.  The event was held last Tuesday at David Peck's studio/warehouse located in Houston's Upper Kirby area.  All 3 designers produce their garments out of David Peck USA.  Cocktails were served from 6-7 with the 34 look fashion presentation kicking off at 7pm.  All guests received a run of show pamphlet listing each designer for each look, the price points of the garments and the accessories.

Amir and Jonathan had stations set up at the event with garments that were not used in the model presentations.  Guests had the chance to mingle with each designer, talk about their inspirations, and why this event was important to them.

I love the support that these designers have for each other.

I met Jonathan before during a brief encounter with him and Carolyn Farb at Carrie Ann Boutique a long time ago, but I finally had the chance to make it to one of his presentations!

And now for the fashion presentation! Which looks do you like the best? Do you relate more to one design aesthetic? I'd love to hear your thoughts in the comments!
