TICKET TO THE TENTS: Charlotte Ronson & Nicole Miller

Sunday, February 10, 2013

Day 2 of New York Fashion week did not slow down in the amount of designer's collections showcased.  Among the heavy hitters on day two were the Fall 2013 collections of Charlotte Ronson and Nicole Miller.  Below see their garments directly from the runways at Fashion week via FashionMingle.net.

Charlotte Ronson’s Fall 2013 collection speaks to the downtown girl while also appealing to those who live in all parts of the city.  From funky to feminine to fierce and fresh, Charlotte had something for every gal. Color was the name of the game as there were vivid reds, deep purples, navy blue, and a fun use of hunter green in a kaleidoscope floral pattern.  Leather is a huge trend for Fall 2013 and Charlotte Ronson’s presentation was no exception.  There were hunter green leather tea dresses, leather pencil skirts, leather pegged pants and leather member’s jackets.  Lace was used in an interesting way in this collection.  Charlotte showed black lattice lace over the top portion of a midnight crepe jumpsuit.  There were several two piece looks that gave a nice node to the 90’s.

Fabric Blocking was used in a great way with fabric next to black lattice lace and lots of leather with herringbone.  There were also great menswear inspired pieces like heritage plaid moto jackets, leather member’s jackets, and a St. John’s jacquard smoking jacket and cigarette pant.

Matching Bags accompanied many of the outfits including a kaleidoscope floral mini backpack, malbec combo doctor’s bag and a charcoal herringbone duffle.

Nicole Miller Fall 2013 Collection

When asked what she thought was the trend of this season, Nicole Miller answered, “Black leather.” Judging from this collection, she is incredibly committed to that observation. This collection was rock glam from opening to close and what screams rock glam like black leather. The designer’s theme was “girlfriends wearing boyfriend’s clothes,” which would explain why I kept thinking this collection was designed for Russell Brand or Steven Tyler.

Even with so much print mixing, a selection fur covered jackets and purses, a floral full length trench and a nod to both goth and grunge showing long cross pendent necklaces and burn out velvet, the collection still seemed sleek and unfussy. Maybe the addition of a fedora added a well put together air. Even the denim patchwork suit came off cool…and it is a patchwork denim suit! The last time we saw those words in print it was referring to the late 90’s Brittney and Justin matching red carpet ensembles, but Miller makes it look modern and oh so chic.
