THE EVENT: Mia Arenas Trunk Show

Monday, August 27, 2012

Another throwback from the failed external hard drive. Back in May I had the pleasure of meeting local Houston Fashion Designer Mia Arenas at her trunk show at Fashion Plate Lifestyle. She was previewing her latest collection for Solo Mia 2315 her design label. I thought the pieces to be really unique and different! Definitely glad I was able to recover the photos to share them with you!  Price points for the samples in this collection are around $150 but customs would be around $300 a piece.

Mia is from Panama, born in the canal zone. She's always loved fashion but didn't know she could become a fashion designer.  It wasn't until her Dad noticed her sewing and told her she should make that her maojr.  She has designed several collections, and this is her comeback to her own line.  She's been doing background work for other designers for the last few years.

Mia can make any of her pieces custom for you.  Ordering is half down and the other half on arrival. Delivery of custom garments can range from 3-4 weeks depending on the piece.

Vest has zippered front, cross over snapped detailing, fur collar.  The pants have pleas that accent the palazzo look.  You have the option of letting your flats be really flair or cinching the pleats together by locking them with the ultrasuede straps.
The dress is wool with ultrasuede detailing (Stripes and covered buttons) and faux fur. The sleeve detailing is the Raymond sleeve and has accents on the shoulders

These outfits are from Mia's Separates Collection
Shorts have red satin lining throughout, and teal buttons.  Mia uses shiny denim for these shorts and the pants.
The top is casual. It snaps together, and has beading details on the the top
Mia calls these jeans her non-jean jeans, but not pajama jeans.  They give the look of the jegging trend without pockets.

Fabric is rayon, and the twill fronts are lined for modesty, so that you can wear these without a bra.  The fabric  drapes the body well on anyone.  The elastic in the back gives the garments breathing room and the backs close with invisible zippers. The shorts have slits in the side for flexibility with movement and sitting.
For customization the sashes can come in any color
Stripes are knit
Mia purposely had the stripes on the dress go in different directions to be complimentary to any figure.  There's elastic on the waist.

Not everyone can pull off a drop-waist skirt so Mia can customize the skirt to your liking or give you the option of a pinstriped pant
The crop top has double ribbons on the shoulder to tie into bows.  The skirt is a pinstripe skirt and is stretched made into a drop waist circle skirt.
Crop top-$10, Skirt- $25, Striped Dress - $50

Floral used to be somebody's jacket. Mia took it apart to make the bodice. Satin and orange trim layer upon layer of orange tulle and flowers. Inspiration for whole dress came from jacket - $125

  3. I love that romper, the striped red dress, and the floral bustier dress with the tulle skirting. definitely some unique designs. I would like that dress suit better if the skirt was a little longer and the slit less high. I'm glad your hard drive was finally recovered!
