MIXING PRINTS: Similar Design, Different Colors

Wednesday, April 11, 2012

As you may or may not know by now, mixing prints is the current hottness. It was fairly popular last season, and is coming out in full force this Spring.  I offered some mixing prints tips in my blog post here, and here's another option: Using similar designs, but different colors. Though my skirt as the reverse Chevron pattern, and my top diagonal stripes, they are both striped and fairly simple designs. They don't clash that badly and I think they look rather well together!

Vest: A'Gaci (Similar Here, & Here)
Top: New York & Company
Skirt: New York & Company (Similar here)
Flats: Fioni (Payless)

I recently had to go on a little shopping spree to hold myself over while I'm working on getting down to a healthy weight.  There's nothing more horrible to me than trying to squeeze into clothes that are too small and just looking bigger than I already am! This skirt was apart of that emergency shopping trip I took a few weeks ago. I love it! It's easy, and comfy, and I could lounge around in it all day...but this particular day I choose to wear it to work.  Clearly today was a "Flats" day. There are just some days where I want to be able to move quickly at work and just be 100% comfy, and since the rest of my outfit was comfy, why had some teeter-tottering heels? So I opted for flats.
