Stiletto Stampede Race Day

Rocky Stiletto & Apollo Heel
From NFL teams sporting pink to men and women running in heels, there was an abundance of breast cancer awareness and fundraising events.  In fact, I can't remember any other year prior to 2011 in which there were so many activities.  Pink was everywhere during the month of October, and we showed the world that we care about our fellow men and women who suffer from this disease and the families who struggle right along with them. Please remember that you need to take care of yourself all year round. Don't wait until October of next year to get an Exam, or to show support for organizations that are trying to eradicate the world of Cancer.

My last breast cancer awareness event that I attended was this past Saturday, November 5th. You've seen me talk about it over a few posts, but now it's time to post about Race Day for Stiletto Stampede for the Cure.

In 2009, a group of volunteers, now the Stiletto Stampede nonprofit organization created the Stiletto Stampede for the Cure™. This exciting concept evolved into a high heel dash with a mission to encourage young women and men to know and understand the risks of breast cancer, and empower them to prevent the disease by utilizing overall Breast Self-Awareness through Early Detection, Screening Methods and Education.
Proceeds from the Stiletto Stampede for the Cure benefit Austin, Houston and Dallas County Susan G Komen Affiliates, as well as outreach education and rehab programs developed by the Stiletto Stampede organization.

I did not participate in the running, but Fashionably Houston was the online sponsors for the event, and I definitely wanted to support them and a good cause! So bright and early Saturday morning I arrived at the festivities held at City Centre.  The weather here has been really annoying because it's freezing in the mornings, hot as heck midday, and then mildly chilly in the just doesn't know how to dress anymore! I arrived in a black turtleneck and peacoat.  The central area of city center was full of pink from vendor displays to funky stampeder outfits! I took lots of pictures!  After the heaps (there were different groups like women with strollers) a live cover band played for a few hours, followed by ModChic Couture's Runway Show. (Come back again to see my post covering the ModChic fashion show).
