OTHELLO

Saturday, August 06, 2011

When I was in 7th grade I went through this crazy Shakespeare obsession and read almost all of his works. My favs being The Taming of the Shrew and MacBeth. I also liked Othello, and on Thursday night there was a free showing of Othello at Houston's Miller Outdoor Theater. This is what I wore to see this performance

Ensemble:
Shorts: New York & Company
Top: New York & Company
Headband: Giveaway Win from Sproos Shop via Cute and Little Blog
Wedges: TJMaxx
Necklace & Earring Set: Calvin Klein (Burlington)

Whenever we go to Miller we always bring food and blankets and sit in the grass. I wanted to be chic yet comfy. The "seats" are actually free, but I don't think it's as fun as having a mini picnic while watching a performance. I went with three friends of mine and we shared wine, snacks, and great company while enjoying a great performance.

The theater before it got crowded

They did a short skit beforehand of a synopsis of Othello

A long time ago I saw "O" the movie with Josh Hartnett in it and I forgot who played O (Othello) and Julia Styles. It was actually good, they brought Othello into modern times into high school. I've never seen the Lawrence Fishbourne version, but I heard that was good too. We weren't allowed to take photos of the actual stage performance, but I figured these pictures were cool enough. For the weekend they are rotating between Othello & Taming of the Shrew. I'm going to miss Taming of the Shrew...so sad :-(
