Today for Fan Feature Friday, I have for you Cortnie of StyleLust Pages. She started her own styling business and decided to have a blog to coincide with her business. Enjoy learning more about Cortnie!

Name: Cortnie Elizabeth
Age: 27
Hometown: Columbia, MD
Current Location: I'm still here!
Blog URL (if Blogger):

How did you come up with the name of your blog? I don't know! It was kind of weird. I started a styling business towards the end of 2009 and my sister came up with StyleLust.  We were sitting there putting words together that were fashion-related. From there came the name for the blog. I kept thinking of how you look at pages when on the internet: pages of photos, pages of iinformation...and there it was: StyleLust Pages.

What inspired you to start blogging and how long have you been blogging? I was almost forced into it, lol. I didn't know how consistent I would be with getting posts up and with content. I wasn't really into it at first, but then I started browsing other blogs and got an idea of what I wanted to do.  I always knew I wanted to do outfit posts, but they're SO time consuming. So I try and mix it up a little, but still try and keep it personal.  That way the content is fresh.  You can go anywhere on the internet and pull images and repost them. I try to avoid that if I can. It's been since September 2009. That's when I published my first blog post.

How did your love of fashion develop? I think it's in my blood. Growing up my grandmother was always sewing and making clothes for herself and occasionally for my sister and I.  She would tell me how her mother (my great grandmother) love having nice clothes. I'm the say way. I'm very particular about what I buy. The quality and fabric are two things I look at when shopping. Even when I was younger, looking at magazines and seeing how some of those women dressed. I was definitely influenced by the things around me.

How would you describe your personal style? Definitely casual chic. I love anything oversized on the top and a skinny silhouette on the bottom. I love existing in dresses and skirts. Heels to dress things up and ballet flats or sandals for other times.

Tell us some of your favorite fashion magazines and why? People Style Watch is great for trends, good deals and promotions. Marie Claire has such great stores to read. The high fashion ones are always fun too. But my favorite magazine is Lucky! There you'll find a mix of expensive AND affordable pieces, as well as what's trending and great places to shop when traveling.

What do you use for inspiration when putting together an outfit? I usually take a pair of shoes that I want to wear and build an outfit around them. Though, it all depends on the weather! I hate being dressed and dolled up if I'm going to be rained on.  That's when I go with my Hunter boots and keep it simple.

Do you find yourself steering more towards vintage pieces or modern pieces? Definitely more modern, hands down. If it's vintage it will probably be in the form of some kind of accessory.

Do you like to follow trends? If so, what are your favorite ones at the moment, and ones you can do without? I don't want to say I follow or don't follow trends. I go with what I like whether it's trending or not. I have like colored denim this season though. Pastels are great, mid and maxi-length skirts/dresses and stripes are in all year around for me.

Tell us an interesting fact about yourself: My birthday's on Valentine's Day!

What is one of your favorite quotes? Do you remember when the CoCo Chanel movie aired on Lifetime? I've always remembered, " what life's all about". I try to live by that.

What genres of music do you listen to? And who are some of your favorite artists? I listen to everything except country and rock. I love old school R&B though. I like under-rated artists. Tamia and Amerie are definitely underrated: Miguel has to be a new fave.

How does fashion where you live now compare to any other place you have lived or visited? I've lived in Maryland most of my life. I lived in California for about a year and a half where the style was very laid back. In Maryland fashion is not a big thing. Being close to DC there's a lot of suit wearing which is definitely not for me. Outside of DC, the word I would use to describe the style where I live is colorful.

How many blogs do you follow? And what are some of your favorite ones? Oh boy, it's a large amount and I didn't want to sit there and count them all. I've always liked Cupcakes and Cashmere. I can relate to her style a lot of the time. My new faves are Fashion Bananas and Karla's Closet.

What do you like to do in your free time? Blog of course! I'm also a movie fanatic. I can relax with a movie anytime.

What are your goals for your blog? I'm not trying to be a super blogger (but who wouldn't want to be flown out to fashion week and promote different brands?). For now, it's something I enjoy doing. It's nice getting feedback on what you put together too. It drives you to do more.

Would you like to add anything else for my readers? My sister recently got her blog up and running. Check her out some time at!
