VALENTINE'S DAY BLOGGER PARTY

Wednesday, February 22, 2017

Even though I'm single, I love Valentine's Day. For some reason I don't get depressed about not having a significant other on Valentine's Day. It's a lot of hoopla to forcefully make sure you tell your special person that you love them. Instead, I think of Valentine's day as love for everyone: friends, family, etc. Recently, I've become obsessed with hosting parties. I don't know what it is, but I just love a good party. I had a blogger party in December, than January, and for February I decided to host a Blogger Valentine's Day party.

The party was hosted at one of my favorite Hotels in Houston, Hotel Sorella.  I love staying at Hotel Sorella. It's the perfect hotel for a staycation.  It's far enough away from my house that I feel like I'm going somewhere, but close enough to my house, that I can get home if I need too. It's close to downtown, and in the center of one of my favorite locations in Houston; City Centre.  They also have complimentary breakfast, which is ALWAYS a plus to me if I'm staying at a hotel. The Valentine's day party was held in one of the Sorella's penthouses.  This was my second time visiting the suite and it was just as AMAZING as I remembered. It's a 3-bedroom, 2.5 bath, 2-story loft style hidden gem. It's basically an "Oh I wish this was my life every day" loft and it's a fabulous space to host a party.  I arrived to the suite a few hours before the party to set-up! I was joined by Beth Delozier, Shop The Manor who helped me decorate with amazing goodies from her Home Decor business, and Alicia Waiters who set up her bra-fitting station for Livie Rae Your Way

I definitely left the part with 2 new bras ordered. Seriously, having a good fitting bra makes all the difference. Alicia is great at bra-fitting!
I feel really blessed that I was able to work with so many amazing people and brands for the Valentine's Day Blogger party.  I had several amazing food sponsors: Eddie V's Prime Seafood, State Fare, Radio Milano & Grub Burger.  Prior to this event, I had eaten at all of these restaurants except for State Fare.  My guests thoroughly enjoyed the food!

Eddie V's provided pot stickers, calamari, mini lump crab cakes, and mini banana fosters! I loved everything on the menu, but I could not stop eating those banana foster desserts!
Eddie V's came early to set-up the food, which was very helpful!
Radio Milano also arrived early to set up their food. They provided Caprese Skewers, Salmon Tartare, & Proscuito Brusqueta
State Fare provided house made chips with pickle dip. I admit, this chips and dips was one of my favorites. I kept going back for more! How cute is the chip and dip dishes? I picked those up from Target!
DESSERT STATION
I'm pretty obsessed with Candy Bars. I just love them. Almost all of my parties have candy bars. It's also because I purchased these dishes from party city last year for my 1920s birthday, and it makes me happy to get to reuse them. Have you visited Bullseye's Playground at Target? It's the front section with $5 or less items at the front of the store. I seriously buy everything from there, including these heart shaped dishes and the spotted candy dishes.
Shari's Berries sent me an lovely assortment of chocolate-covered strawberries and chocolate covered Oreos. Seriously, as far as Valentine's Day desserts go, it doesn't get any better than this!

DRINK OF CHOICE: Strawberry/Rasberry Champagne by Elle Talk

If you guys aren't already following Michelle (Elle) Heath at Elle Talk, you are truly missing out. Not only does she have amazing content with fabulous photos, but she's also a cocktail connoseuir! She was the first person I thought to ask when it came to what should I serve for a drink at the cocktail party. Michelle put together a great strawberry champagne recipe for her blog that she recommended for the party. Unfortunately I was unable to find strawberry flavored Torani syrup, so she offered an alternate: rasberry, which was just as yummy. I had already picked up some fun VDAY stirrers from Bullseyes playground and I added those to everyone's champagne cocktail. I must admit, that this drink went down like candy...hahaha...I may have had one too many, but NO REGRETS!

DIY - Heart Earrings by Pop Shop America
What's a party without a little arts and crafts? Boring! That's why I'm so happy that Brittany Bly with Pop Shop America is always on board to bring a fun DIY experience to one of my parties. This time she showed us how to make earrings, keychains, etc from shrinky dink paper.  I became a tad obsessed with the DIY and made about 4 things. I definitely want to make more of these! I'm evening thinking of making some for giveaways and gifts for friends and family! If you want to make some of these, you can follow Brittany's easy tutorial on her blog

MAKEUP by Moonsun
I was honored to have one of my friends, Moonsun on the scene providing makeup tips for the girls. I also had her give me a fabulous glitter eye! When it comes to makeup, I love the bold the better!

DECOR
The home decor items around the penthouse were provided by Beth at Shop The Manor. She has the best stuff. When I move into my high-rise later this year, I'm definitely visiting her site to revamp my new space! I'm pretty much over all of the things I currently own! Most of the Valentine's decorations I picked up from....you guessed it...Target! I have a problem! I just can't say no to cute decorations that are under $5!! Some of the Valentine's decorations are also from Party City.
Banner & dreamcatchers (Target)
Pom Pom Banner (Target), Heart Cutouts (Party City)
Picture, Picture stand, plant, bowl, and ornaments (all Manor)
Fabulous view of the downstairs space from the open loft floor upstairs.
Heart pillows (Target), Striped Pillow (Manor)
Pear Shape pillow (Manor), Heart Pillow (Target)
Be Mine Banner, V-Day Plaques, Heart Lights (all Target)
Throw and diamond cut pillow from Shop The Manor

How cute are these heart lights? I put them up in the main downstairs bathroom in the suite.

Thank you to Kendra Scott for donating several pieces of jewelry to giveaway to my guests. You're not a southern blogger until you've worn Kendra Scott!

Shoutout to Leena Vuor with Explore and Adore with Leena Photography for being onsite taking photos of everyone! I'll be sure to share her pics once they are done!
Once again I would just like to give one final shout out to all of my party sponsors! Without them, this event would not have been possible! Please show them some love on Social Media, and if you're in Houston, definitely check out the restaurants and Hotel Sorella!

  6. Girl you are a fabulous party planner! I wish I could have been there. Too bad I've been sick for weeks...but finally on the mend. Hotel Sorella is amazing and I totally could have used a good bra fitting. (Post nursing momma problems.) I hope to be able to make it if you host another event!

  10. To me, Valentines Day isn't about having a significant other. My Mom always would give me lovely gifts for Valentines Day and that is what told me I didn't need anyone else. I do have a significant other, but I love Valentines day no matter what. I am so loving this hotel and set up. You ladies really put something amazing together. Fun pictures and fun times sure were had at this Valentine Day event.
