SUPER BOWL WEEK: Bulls + Blackjack Celebrity Poker NightMonday, February 20, 2017
Thursday night during Super Bowl week, I attended Bulls and Blackjack Celebrity Poker Tournament, thanks to my friend Tabitha Smith! The event was held to raise money for The Wade Smith Foundation, WithMerci.org, and the Barbara Bush Houston Literacy Foundation. The Wade Smith Foundation focuses on community youth programs for literacy and education in the Dallas/Fortworth and Houston areas and was created by former NFL Player and pro-bowler, Wade Smith. With Merci provides support for families with disabilities and special needs and was created by Houston Texans' Linebacker, Whitney Mercilus. Last but not least, the Barbara Bush Foundation focuses on literacy for Houstonians of all ages.
The event was held at a private residence in River Oaks. River Oaks is one of Houston's more illustrious neighborhoods with manors and mansions. The guest list for the event was full of athletes and celebrities, including actor Adrian Grenier. The attire for the evening was Black Tie and mostly everyone came dressed to the nines. The first part of the evening was cocktail hour, with everyone taking pics on the red carpet, being interviewed, and enjoying the hors d'oeuvres. After awhile everyone was guided to their poker tables to start the tournament. During this time, I roamed around and took some additional photos. There were several bars around the house, trapeze artists, a cigar table, and a silent auction. Due to other events that night, I was unable to stay until the end to see who won, but I definitely had a fantastic time. Please check out some of my photos from the event below.
