MY WEEK WITH THE BUICK CASCADA CONVERTIBLESaturday, August 06, 2016
I received a complimentary test drive from GM in exchange for an honest review. Thoughts and opinions are my own.
It's no secret that I love cars. A week or so ago, GM offered me the chance to test drive one of their cars for a week. They provided me with a list of vehicles to choose from and when I saw the Buick Cascada on the list, I knew that was the car for me! It's not every day one gets to drive around in a convertible for a week! Even in the dead heat of Houston's June months, I still wanted to experience the wind whipping through my hair like I see in the movies. Test driving a car from GM is super easy. They deliver it to a location of your choosing with a full tank of gas! You sign a paper, show your license and take-off! My cascada was brought to me at my job, and my co-worker Leena and I took off right away for lunch with the top down! It was soooo much fun! We had to have the AC on full blast though because it was noon on a hot Summer day in Houston, but we didn't care. It was just fun driving with the top down.
The Cascada has lots of amazing features. The first being the speed in which the top goes down. This is Buick's first convertible in 25 years. The technology for soft-tops have greatly improved over the years. With a single pull on the metal tab in the console the top goes down in 14 seconds. Talk about efficient timing. Another misconception that I had about convertibles was that the seats would be cramped, but there was a ton of room in the Cascada. One evening I drove 4 people around and the people in the back seat had tons of room and were very comfy. It's an exhilarating feeling to drive with the top down. You feel like you can do anything and go anywhere. It's a level of freedom that one doesn't experience in an enclosed vehicle!
I was also impressed with the sleek styling of the Cascada. I'm sure you've seen the new Buick commercials where they spoof that people don't recognize new Buicks because they've changed the way they look....and it's true! I never would have guessed that this was a Buick that arrived at my job. It's very modern and sleek. The lines and the huge tires give it an aggressive feel as well. No longer are people associating Buicks with older generations. At 32 I would be proud to drive around in this whip!
There's only one thing that I would change in the Buick and that was the sound system. It was definitely decent, but I felt on certain songs etc, the bass wasn't that great, and I'm a girl who loves to blast her rap and pop songs that have a good beat. It may have just been this trim of the Cascada. You may be able to add in a better sound system for a fee, etc. But other than that, I had no complaints with this car! If you're interested in the Cascada, it's starting MSRP is around $33K! You can check out more features on the Cascada here.
