TRAVEL: My 4th of July Staycation at Wyndham Houston WestTuesday, July 12, 2016
This is a sponsored post in which I received a hotel stay in exchange for an honest review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
After a full day of shopping, eating, and taking photos at City Centre we headed over to the first hotel stop on the Go Houston Travel Bloggers' Agenda: Wyndam Houston West - Energy Corridor. For those of you unfamiliar with Houston, we are the central hub for the oil & gas industry in the United States. A lot of the corporate offices for the oil companies are located west of Houston, in what we call the "Energy Corridor", which means a lot of people are flying in and out of Houston for business meetings and looking for hotels. And while the Wyndham in this location makes for the perfect business trip hotel, it's also a great location for a staycation! The hotel has a lot to offer on it's own, and if you're looking for cool things in the area, you're very close to City Centre and Memorial City.
If you've followed my blog, or IG for awhile, you know that I'm a little bit of a hotel snob....I love hotels...everything about them! From the plush comfy beds, to room service (just something about not having to cook or deal with my dishes afterwards that makes it all worth it). I love a well thought out hotel room as well. When we arrived to our room at Wyndham, I of course checked it out. As a blogger, I'm typically always on my laptop, and not at the desk, but in the bed, so I like for there to be accessible open plugs near the bed, and Wyndham had that! I also love that our room had a microwave and fridge! Perfect for bringing back food from the restaurants downstairs. We also had a treat in our room when we arrived! It was a Chef's Special Amenity from the Executive Chef!

One of my favorite things that I love about this Wyndham, is the indoor pool! There are a plethora of pools in Houston, but honestly it's just way too hot to be outside sometimes. There's nothing cute about sweating to death at the pool. Nothing cute at all, so I enjoy indoor pools. However, I don't want just any old indoor pool, I want one that gives the illusion of being outside without actually being outside, and that's what you get with the Wyndham pool. Open to the lobby, and surrounded by palm trees and sky lights, the ambiance is great at the pool! It's so bright and pleasant. You can also go outside the double doors to the patio area and enjoy a cocktail, or go through the other set of doors to enjoy the hot-tub.

I also love Wyndham's bright and very open lobby. As you can see below the tropical styling doesn't just stop at the pool. There are plants everywhere. The doors to the right are actually rooms, so people staying in those rooms can walk right out and down their steps into the lobby and to the pool! Talk about easy access. Again I love the sky lights that brighten up the lobby. I also tinkered on the piano for 5 seconds because I can't resist playing a grand piano when I see one!
|Ok, even the chandelier set is chic.|
I would definitely give this hotel a 4 out of 5 rating. Not only are strategically located in area that's great for business and pleasure, but they have a lot of great amenities. They have 2 restaurants, pool, hot-tub, fitness center, business center, and a coffee shop. My only slightly negative comment is the chlorine smell from the pool can be a little strong in the lobby since it's right next to it, but other than that, I had a great time at the Wyndham. I'll be sharing my experience at their restaurants in my next post, so stay tuned!
