EVENT RECAP: Style Pass It On for Dress for Success HoustonMonday, May 30, 2016
Earlier this month I shared a blog post about my visit to Dress for Success Houston in preparation for my Style Pass It On Donation Event. As a refresher the Hanes brand L'eggs which specializes in women's legwear, reached out to me and asked me to host a small get together to collect donations for Dress for Success Houston. They sponsored the event by providing decorations and L'eggs hosiery to hand out to the guests. Due to timing on another event I was trying to host, a happy hour, I decided to combine the two, and hosted the event at Tarakaan Asian Bistro and Lounge.
Tarakaan was very gracious to host us and provide us with complimentary hor d'oeuvres and cocktails. This was my first time at Tarakaan, but certainly will not be the last. I was very thankful for them for offering to host our get together. The staff there was super nice and everything was streamlined. The ambience at Tarakaan was fabulous! There was a giant Buddha at the back of the restaurant and one laying on it's side on the way to the restroom. There was even a mini carriage in the lobby that was perfect for photos.
The event started at 6 and I had good intentions of arriving by 5 to set-up....per usual I showed up at 5:55 pm thanks to Houston traffic. It all worked out though, because some of my friends were there right at 6 and helped me set-up. We created a table display of all the L'eggs hosiery that was sent to me, and placed the decorations around our reserved area. I also created social media cards using Canva and had those placed around the space as well! Don't you just love the little purse placeholders? They were the perfect adder for this event about donating your clothes and accessories. Throughout the course of the evening the ladies mingled, and wrote words of encouragement to the ladies in need of Dress for Success' services. There were so many donations at the end of the event that I had trouble getting all of them into my car!! Check out photos from the event below:
Special thanks to Taylor Brione, Liz Marie, Emilie Mobley, & Heather Petrey for helping me set-up and Lauren Zinn for taking some of the above photos!
