WHAT I WORE: Mural Walls That Save The Day

Wednesday, March 30, 2016

As a fashion blogger, I take lots of pictures of myself! As narcissist as that sounds, it's the truth and the sole bread and butter of being a fashion blogger.  I've been blogging for 6+ years now and I've come a long way from the girl who took photos in her dark-lit living room with a camera precariously positioned on the edge of a kitchen island. Nowadays, I take most of my outfit photos outside; outside my apartment, at an event, or even the more recent "on location" locations.  Sometimes I'm very strategic when I choose my locations, and other times, I'm as random as can be. Why do I choose locations? They say a picture speaks a thousand words, so why not take a great one?

One thing I've learned from the world of blogging and the gram is that a good background makes for a great photo.  I'm particularly fond of walls for outfit shots. You may remember my outfit of the day photos at River Oak District here, here, & here. Since then, I've been on a mission to find cool walls around Houston to snap my #OOTDs. You may also recall that I use a tripod for most of my photos, so shooting on location requires me to pack it up and have it ready at all times. Sometimes, I take pictures when I least expect it, like I talked about here

For today's look, I stumbled upon a plethora of mural walls in Houston's East Downtown district that we call EaDo. It was a starry, cloudless night...errr....scrap that! One evening I was out for a Happy Hour with my friends, Marcella and Dominique and looked through the restaurant, past the outside patio and noticed a mural with 5 women on it. I told myself that day, that I would be back to shoot in front of that wall, and so I returned. However, when I found that wall, there were a million other ones right next to it! I definitely had my fair share of walls to choose from, but these 4 were my faves!
