NEW YORK FASHION WEEK: Day Two Favorites - Spring 2016 Collections

Sunday, September 13, 2015

There's a minimum of 20+ shows every day during New York Fashion Week, and it's hard to keep up with all of them! After scouring the collections for my Day 2 Trend Report, I've picked out my top 4 collections from Day 2: Zang Toi, Kate Spade, Nicole Miller, and Cushnie et Ochs.  I also liked the collections by Pamella Roland and Charlotte Ronson too, but I couldn't find usage right photos for those. And I liked parts of Wes Gordon, Yigal Azrouel, and Jason Wu's runways but not everything in their collections, so I chose to focus on the 4 collections where I loved everything!

#1 ZANG TOI

Zang Toi was my absolute favorite from Day 2. Honestly I loved the clothes, but it was really the hats that threw his collection into the number 1 spot. I love hats, and these gave me life! Over-sized, white, and dead-on perfect! I would love to have one of these hats for one of our many sweltering days in Houston. I loved the silhouettes of the all white looks from sexy and short, to baggy and off-the-shoulder. And of course I loved the looks near the end of the collection that sparkled with beading!

#2 CUSHNIE ET OCHS

I love the colors chosen by Carly and Michelle for Spring. The leading runway pieces were uniquely draped with ombre fabric.  I loved their Easter egg colors of blue, purple, and yellow. Of course, almost every collection since day 1 has featured something black and white. Whether it was all white or all black looks, or a combo of the two. Carly and Michelle intermixed their pastels with ensembles in neutral black and white.  I enjoyed the cut-outs which is what pushed Cushnie et Ochs above Nicole Miller.

#3 NICOLE MILLER

Nicole always kills with her print selections.  I love the way she mixes prints, and her ideal client is always bold.

#4 KATE SPADE NY

I'm a recent Kate Spade fan. I used to think Kate Spade was toooooo girly for me. I love girly, but I've never thought I fit the girl that Kate Spade was looking for, but I always enjoyed their handbags! They're always cute and unique shapes, or items that wouldn't normally be bags, but they turn them into bags. Because of my recent like of their handbags, I've begun to enjoy their clothes just as much!
