EVENT RECAP: 2015 Houston Press Artopia

Monday, February 02, 2015

Houston Press Artopia never seems to disappoint. Last month I attended the 2015 edition of Artopia courtesy of Houston Press with my intern, Evelyn Casas and her friend Eric! We had a great time, catching all there was to see at Artopia. In today's post I'll be covering the atmosphere and displays at Artopia and Evelyn will blog about the fashion shows on a separate post. Every year, Houston Press Artopia is held at Winter Street Studios. Winter Street Studios, in and of itself, is impressive enough with the premise being a work space/art gallery for local artists. It's an old factory turned "working art gallery" and if you ever have the chance to stop by, you definitely should. Artopia focuses on more than just art, with fashion shows, musical performances and food tastings from some of the best restaurants in Houston.

Some artists chose to keep their studios open for guests to go inside and see their creative work spaces, while other artists presented their artwork on the halls of the party. For the Fashion component there were 4 fashion shows throughout the evening on the first stage, and musical acts performed on the 2nd stage. One of my favorite parts about Houston Press Artopia is sampling all of the food that local restaurants bring in for tasting. Yes...my name is Shasie, andI like food...ha! Check out some of my photos from the event below, and for all of my photos check out my Facebook Album

Bombshell Hairshop had a booth, and they also did all of the hair for the models in the fashion shows!

My homegirl Mara from www.malibumara.com always dresses fly! I loved her shoes, so I had to snap a pic!

Representatives from 1919 Wine and Mixology were in the house! 1919 hosted the Houston Press Artopia Preview party that Evelyn blogged about HERE.

Even Cirque Du Soleil had a booth for their new show, Amaluna coming to Houston! I pretty much love everything Cirque Du Soleil ever since I saw KA at MGM in Las Vegas. Best show ever!

Yummy food from BB's Cafe!

Evelyn & Eric ready to cover the last fashion show of the evening!
