FASHION HOUSTON FH5: Opening Night with Sameera Faridi & Jonathan BlakeSaturday, November 22, 2014
Fashion Houston kicked off it's 5th season this past Tuesday at Wortham Theater Center. Typically Fashion Houston features 4 designers every night, but this year they stepped it up with 5-6 shows per evening. In addition to the fashion shows, guests were entertained by musical performances by Rocko Steady Narvios and Tamar Davis! 2 of the designers that showcased opening night were Houston Fashion Designers, Sameera Faridi and Jonathan Blake. I've featured fashions by Jonathan blake before on my blog, but not Sameera. The two collections couldn't be more different, as Sameera focuses on South Asian apparel and Jonathan on luxe contemporary, but I loved both just the same! Check out the looks from their fashion shows below:
I've always been in love with South Asian clothing. It's soooooo luxurious and rich looking. I love all the sparkle, and the silhouettes are fun! I love how Sameera translated the typical South Asian prints into a few female pant looks!
I loved the color palette for Jonathan Tinkle's Jonathan Blake collection. The pastel greens and blues!!! There were some unique silhouettes as well,, for instance the first model came out in a baby doll shaped fly away blazer. I loved all the looks that featured shimmery fabric, and I liked the green print that reminded me of reptile scales and moss! It was a lovely collection!
