EVENT RECAP: Fashion Houston's "Row Call"

Wednesday, October 29, 2014

Fashion Houston, Houston's premier fashion event of the year, is just around the corner and to celebrate they threw one heck of a kick-off party.  Now, I love a good party, especially one related to Fashion and Row Call was just that; a fashionably good time! The event was held at the JW Marriott Houston Downtown Hotel and proceeds of the event benefited Dress for Success Houston.  The event was open to all who purchased a ticket, with ticket options ranging from $20-$30 for General Admisstion to $50 for VIP Tickets.  VIP tickets gave patrons access to the VIP Hour from 7-8 pm before the public party at 8 pm. Due to traffic, I arrived at 7:45 pm (I like to call it fashionably late). But I arrived just in time to enjoy the yummy sushi bar.

The ambiance of the party was great! Everyone was dressed to the nines (come back to my blog to see my 'What We Wore' post), and models were stationed around the space wearing looks from the designers showing at Fashion Houston, including Houston's very own Chloe Dao! Champagne and wine was plentiful, and Circulo, the drink sponsor, provided tasty cocktails. In addition to food, models, champagne, etc.,  there were live performances! Houston-based singers Ashley Toman, and Courtney Locke performed a few songs each! In between the musical performances the DJ kept us bumping. At one point I asked him to play the "Wobble" and once he did that, the party REALLY started! Everyone started dancing, and the DJ continued the line-dance craze with "Cupid Shuffle" and "Dougie".  However, all attention turned to the middle of the dance floor when a flash dance troupe busted out some fabtacular hip-hop moves! The troupe is called Indivisible and they perform at Houston's Met Dance Center!

It seriously was a great night! You know you've had a great night, when you leave a little sweaty from dancing!
