LLIS TRAVELS: Fashion Turned Foodie Blogger at Hyatt Market Street

Thursday, July 31, 2014

I'm not gonna lie...I love food! #NomNomNom...maybe I should be a food blogger? I post enough pictures of food on my instagram to qualify! Part of our #GOHOUSTONGNO trip at Hyatt Market Street - The Woodlands, included sampling food from the hotel's Market Street Kitchen menu.  Dinner started promptly at 7:30, so I had about 20 minutes to change between visiting Lush Cosmetics and meeting the girls on the hotel's 2nd floor, where the bar and outside pool area were located.  We had two lovely hosts for the evening and all of us kicked off the tasting with a complimentary drink of choice!
My cocktail perfectly matched my red David Peck dress and complimented my mint green bangles! Who says a cocktail doesn't make for a great accessory?

First up on the evening's menu was the  Crab and Avocado Terrine: jumbo lump crab, pico de gallo, local honey-lime vinagrette, tortillas and house-made wontons. This was my second favorite item of the evening. The home made wontons were so yummy, I couldn't stop eating them.
Spinach & Kale Dip: Artichokes, Texas Goat Cheese, Parmesan, Dallas Gourmet's all natural flatbread

Pork Tostadas: Blue core tortillas, black bean puree, & crisp veggie slaw w/poblano ranch
Mini sampling of Shrimp & Grits! This was my favorite food from the evening! I loved the mini grit patties and the optional ettoufee to top it off.

Pasta Fresca, Chef's choice of pasta, kale, red onions, zucchini, house pickled pepperoncini, almonds, and remesco sauce
After we sampled all of the dishes that Hyatt had planned for us, they asked us if we wanted to sample anything else on the menu.  We ordered the BBQ Chick Flatbread. However we ordered that, but they also brought out their Fried Calamari for us to try!
We also ordered some of the Berkshire Pork Belly Sliders: Kraftsman brioche, say-ginger glase, sriracha  aloli, sesame-yaze citras slaw and fried wontons.
I liked the shrimp and grits so much that I asked for another plate of them, and was surprised when they brought out the FULL-SIZE portion of the shrimp and grits...OMG! After all this food, however was I going to finish this dish! I definitely tried my best!
Then it was time to sample dessert! We tried two of the desserts off of the menu. First we sampled the Homemade Banana Bread. OMG this was sooooo yummy. I literally would go back to Hyatt Market Street Kitchen just for this dessert!
The second dessert was the Hose Granita, seasonal fruit infused shaved ice. For our Granita we had peach and lavender flavors. I didn't like this one that much...I think the lavender was a little over powering.
Midway through our tasting I decided to head out to the pool area to check out the live band, and people watch.
I really loved the ambiance of the pool level at night for happy hour! The lights are dim and the pool is already gorgeous, but even better under the dusk lighting. It's kind of romantic! I would definitely stay here with a boyfriend or future hubby!

Spa, anyone?
