PARTY IN PINK, Flamingo Style

Monday, July 28, 2014

This is my second year in a row attending this fun soiree at Hotel ZaZa.  The Annual Pink Party is put on by Susan G. Komen Houston &Hotel Zaza to raise funds for the Houston branch of Susan G. Komen. This year ZaZa and Susan G. Komen partnered with Veuve Clicquot and Modern Luxury Houston Magazine to to turn ZaZa's pool area into a flamingo nightclub! I had so much fun at the 2013 #ZazaPartyinPink event last year that I had to return for the 2014 edition.  I arrived ,as press, a little after 7 and the party was just getting started! After checking in, guests were ushered upstairs to ZaZa's pool level, where they were greeted by a pink carpet and step & repeat for photos! One of my favorite Houston photographers was on hand to take the photos; Roswitha from Photos by Rovo! I decided to bypass the step & repeat line for the time being (only to return at later with Sarah Pendley), and practically ran into the friendly party staff serving up pink cocktails and champagne.

After snagging a cocktail, I roamed the party taking fun pictures of all the pink highlights, entertainment areas and some of my favorite outfits (come back to my blog later today and check out the event style post, live at 12 noon CT). Hotel ZaZa is already one of my favorite hotels in Houston and home to many a fashion event, but I absolutely love the way they decorate it for the pink party! In addition to pink flamingo decorations galore, Neal Hamil models, displaying the latest fashion trends from Tootsies, stood on white pedestals above the crowd.  ZaZa's Executive Chef roamed the party making sure everything was perfect with the food from ZaZa's kitchen and Fluff Pop was on the scene handing out gluten-free cotton candy and gourmet flavor popcorn samples.   I admit, I probably ate more than I should have and was a little addicted to the Italian Creme Cake popcorn, but when you go to an event right from work without stopping to eat dinner a girl can get a little hungry! For entertainment, there was a DJ, pink poker/black jack, jenga and party sparklers! I was even captured on video, by CultureMap's Joel Luks, dancing away with Dr. Yasmin Haddad!
