SMIRNOFF HUB: Host a Waffle Bar Party!

Tuesday, June 03, 2014

Seems like every day there is a new “it” food trend that’s inspiring hostesses across the country. From cupcakes, to candy bars, to cake pops, there are a lot of fun ways you can serve your guests to keep their appetites at bay while inspiring their taste buds. When thinking of spring-time, we can’t help but daydream about our favorite meal of the day – brunch. Here’s our spread for a mouth-watering waffle bar to set up at your engagement party or to impress your friends for a random Sunday brunch at your place!
Tablescape. Bring out a long folding table or utilize your counter top to set up your Waffle Bar. For a chic look, drape the table with a delicate tablecloth or opt to bring in a bright color palette into the mix with an eye-catching fabric. Create name cards to identify each ingredient. For a more crafty look, use brown crate paper to line your table and use a marker to mark each topping.
Waffle Makers. Oh, the possibilities! Squared, circles, sticks, triangles, Belgian, and beyond. What about a heart-shaped press or you and your fiancé’s initials? Find your waffle shape match and then get pressing! Grab a large serving platter and stack them up so your guests can select their waffles at their leisure.
Toppings. Another category that brings to mind endless options! Start by collecting color-themed bowls to place your topping options. Come up with a list of your favorites – then dwindle down the list to your top 5 – 6 choices. Here are some thought starters:
  • Dark Chocolate Chips
  • Sliced Strawberries
  • Blueberries
  • Bananas
  • Raspberries
  • Whipped Cream
  • Sprinkles
  • Sugar
  • Peanut Butter
  • Hazelnut Spread
  • Syrup
  • Butter
The Extras. Round out your Waffle Bar with the essentials: plates, napkins, utensils and serving spoons. Also, add candles and flowers for that special touch.
And no brunch would be complete without a signature cocktail! Try the Ponsettia Flurry by our friends at A Subtle Revelry.
1.5 oz. SMIRNOFF Fluffed Marshmallow Flavored Vodka
2 oz. pomegranate juice
1 oz. sparkling wine (optional)
Combine the first two ingredients in an ice-filled shaker. Shake thoroughly. Strain into a well-chilled martini glass. Top with the sparkling wine.
