LINCOLN DRIVEN 2 DINE EVENT PART II: Sparrow Bar + Cookshop

Thursday, June 05, 2014

After driving around in the luxury Lincoln MKZ, part 2 of the "Driven 2 Dine" event was enjoying a 3-course meal at Sparrow Bar + Cookshop. Sparrow Bar is own by James Beard Nominated Chef & Restauranteur, Monica Pope. This is my first time eating at her restaurant, and I can confidently say that it won't be my last. I loved this place! Not only did they have gigantic beakers for the water jugs (a big hit for Chemical Engineers like myself and my friend Viviana), but the ambiance was nice and the food was yummy in the tummy!  There was a set menu for the event, starting with our choice of a specialty cocktail.

I even liked the melted wax candles in the candelabras.

This is very typical for me....3 drinks at a meal:  Water, Cocktail, and Sprite! lol. I think we both picked the Mango Orange Punch/Moonshine cocktail.

FIRST COURSE: APPETIZERS
For my appetizer I picked the Shitake Mushroom Dumplings with bleu honey sauce - Amazeballs
Viviana picked the Burrata (cream-stuffed mozarella), sundried tomato-walnut compote and arugula. We obviously shared! lol
SECOND COURSE: MAIN DISH
For my main dish, I picked the Crispy Flattened Chicken, milled potatoes, lemon butter sauce and salsa verdi
Viviana chose the Pecan-Crusted wild salmon, sauteed spinach and sweet strawberry seed sauce
THIRD COURSE: DESSERT
Vivi's pick: Affogato - Caramel semifreddo, salted caramel popcorn and sauce, cacao nibs & toffee
My pick: Vanilla melted pot de creme with a chewie ginger cookie!
The Bar

Definitely had to take a photo in front of this "worn" mirror! Can you see us?
If it hadn't been raining, I definitely would have sat outside!

Our waiter was really fun!
Another opportunity for a photo? Why of course! Why else would they have this Lincoln Motor Company poster here!
Yesssss I was so happy to have left overs because the chicken was just as good the next day!
I think I was trying to hid my left over plate! lol
The rain finally stopped long enough for us to snap some shots in front of The Lincoln Motor Company Step & Repeat

Everyone knows about the Lincoln Navi!
I liked the shade of red on this vehicle so of course....
I had to take a picture with it!
And to top of the evening and a pretty result of all that rainfall was this pretty Rainbow!
