EVENT RECAP: Little Black Dress Designer Kick-Off Party

Monday, March 24, 2014

To kick-off the 6th Annual Little Black Dress Designer Competition (LBDD) the organization, hosted a swank party at TOOTSIES West Ave.  LBDD, founded in 2008, is a competition for fashion students and emerging designers to compete for academic scholarships by reinventing the 'Little Black Dress' (LBD). LBDD started in Houston and has grown to a state-wide competition.  Professional designers, retailers and established fashion media judge the competition and decide on the scholarship winners.  Are you a designer looking for a financial break in pursuing your dream?  Do you think you have what it takes to be the next winner of LBDD? If so, you can apply to compete HERE for either the Houston or the Dallas competitions.
Personally, this my first year participating in LBDD events. I gained wind of the organization last year but missed the final competition at House of Blues, so I was excited to attend the kick-off party! For the party we were treated to a 'Little Black Dress' fashion show styled by TOOTSIES' Creative Fashion Director Fady Armanious.  Fady showed us the latest and greatest LBD offerings available at Tootsies along with snazzy accessories.  The producers of the show also brought in the following top hair stylists in Houston to create modern and innovative hairstyles to go along with the LBDs.
David Bamford - Therapy
Casey Clay - Shyn
Cara Crafton & Cabe Nowlen - Craft Salon
Trey Gillen - TreSpa
James Fletty - Solution
Roi Alan & Travis Player
Eward Sanchez - Vanity Lounge
Mario Tort - Estilo

The Fashion Show

After the  fashion show, 10 ladies were picked from the board to be muses for the designers in creating their LBDs!

And what would an event be without a mass "Oscar-like" Selfie
