EVENT RECAP: Houston Press Artopia

Sunday, February 02, 2014

Last Saturday, I attended Houston Press Artopia with my blogger friend, Mara of Malibu Mara on press passes.  We carpooled to the event at Winter Street Studios, and had a fun time! We pretty much checked out every room and corner that was open for the event. There was everything there from art to music, to food to fashion shows! There was so much going on, that it's hard to believe that it was all done in a few short hours! Maybe one day Artopia will expand into a 2 day event!

Mara snapped this picture of me on her phone. I was posing near the artwork featuring the Fashions Night Out logo
This fun Artopia mural was the first piece of art visible after walking up the stairs into the party
I was partial to this radio sketch! I liked the bright, neon colors
I wanted to buy this necklace. It reminded me of WonderWoman but with an M. haha
Thank you Mara for this cute picture from your phone! I was trying on the M necklace in the mirror
How cool are these masks?
YEEESSSSS! I love photography. I really admire the art and talent that goes into taking an amazing photo!
Houston Press is newspaper/online media outlet. They put on this event every year! I missed last year because I was still at home in Pittsburgh visiting family
Downstairs the DJ spun some fun tunes
Nothing like watching live art! These painters showed off their talent to an audience.
I randomly was the weird girl who snapped a picture of these dudes while they were posing for someone else! hahaha. I love to see men out at these events!
This was probably my favorite piece of art from the event. I loved the eyes and the dramatic eyelashes
I thought the space where the artists work was art in and of itself. It was cool!

Fun Christmas Lights lit the hallways downstairs

Hmm, can anyone figure out why I took a picture of this artwork...#meow  #catlover
Pretty....I love jewelry

This Pumpkin Mousse with Rum was super yummy! This was Brio Tuscan Grille's table
I might have gone a little crazy sampling food......but there was just so many yummy choices!
DISCLAIMER: The next few photos are pictures of artwork that was done with real blood...animal blood from a butcher

Ray Charles!

Until next year Artopia! For more photos from the night be sure to check out the hashtag #Artopia2014 on social media!
