THE EVENT: TBLE Breast Cancer Awareness GalaFriday, July 19, 2013
Last Saturday I attended my first Gala! The gala was titled "An Evening to Remember" and was for Breast Cancer Awareness and was the 2nd event in the 5-event TBLE BCA Campaign in which I am the featured blogger sponsor. It was a VERY nice event. It was held at Brady's Landing near Houston's ship channel. Of course I was about a half an hour late (Typical CPT) but I still made it in time for all of the good stuff. One of my closest friends Liz came to the dinner with me, and Nanalli and Reign fellow bloggers and members of the Houston Fashion Bloggers were also in attendance. Or course the founder of TBLE is a proud HFB member as well! That would be Mrs. Shunte Gamble-Davis. The event kicked off with a buffet style seafood dinner...and I mean was there ever food! Check out what was on the menu:
Mixed Green Salad
Three Bean Salad
Roast Beef Bourguignon
Breast Cordon Bleu
Rice & Potato
Green Been Almandine
Fresh Vegetable Medley
My favorite item was the Chicken Cordon Bleu.

There was also a dessert table hidden in the corner (I think to not tempt people...Ha) and I almost went in, when Shunte made an announcement that the desserts were for the Dessert Auction to come later in the program! Haha this was fine with me, because I had big plans to pay whatever to win some cupcakes!

The Houston Fashion Bloggers table was #4. Upon arrival to the gala you received an envelope with information on Breast Cancer Awareness, a unique auction number card (Mine was 420), banquet menu, and a "Vote for Best Table Decor" card. 2 separate event planners decorated the tables and the table with the most votes would win the prize!
After dinner, Shunte got up to welcome everyone, and do the honors for the night. Shunte's grandmother passed away of cancer, and the gala was in remembrance of her and to also honor 2 Breast Cancer Survivors that were in attendance. I got a little teary-eyed. I've lost everyone from a cat to a close family friend to this horrific disease. No one "likes" cancer but when it strikes close to home it's even worse. The survivors, Jacqueline Wright and Bernice Lane were so happy just to be there, alive and living and able to see their grandchildren. The amount of courage and determination that these women displayed to overcome cancer and continue the fight, and in remembrance of 13-year old Talia who lost her fight to cancer on Tuesday morning, "Just Keep Swimming".

After the dessert auction it was time to gamble! With fake money of course! But for every $600 dollars in chips you had at the end of the night you received a raffle ticket to win the 40" TV.
Throughout the night, the guests could bid on items through the Silent Auction. Here's what was up for grabs.
I can't wait for event number 3: The Luxe Pamper Me Party
