THE EVENT: #GetScattered Screening

Monday, May 27, 2013

I attended the screening of Scatter My Ashes at Bergdorf's with my fellow fashion bloggers! We had such a great time, and all of us really liked the movie.  There were private screenings around the country, and each city did something different for the showing.  In Houston, Chloe Dao had her dresses on display from her Dao Chloe Dao collection (pictured above).  Joy Sewing with the Houston Chronicle, introduced the film, and there was a raffle for fun goodie bags (I didn't win...booo :-( ).

Houston Chronical Fashion & Beauty Editor, Joy Sewing opened up the evening with a few announments and a couple giveaways! Houton Fashion Bloggers received a shoutout!
We had 25 seats reserved for HFB and our guests
The movie was FABULOUS! I had chills, I had moments when I felt a tear might stream down my face, and most of the time a lot of oohing and ahhing and some laughing. I love fashion documentaries, they are an added bonus for being a lover of fashion. I watched the September Issue, and I really enjoyed that one too. What I liked about "Scatter My Ashes" was the amount of people they had featured in the docufilm. Some of my favorite parts were with my favorite accessories designer Michael Kors. I loved everyone's take on BG, and I loved how seriously the buyers at BG take their job. They don't just let "anyone" sell at BG, no matter who's famous family you are apart of. I also like how they talked to the associates/personal shoppers. They had great stories about working at BG and the people they've met, styled, and sold too, and why being a straight shooter works to your benefit!

Quotes from and about the Movie:
“We thought we would sell 100 lipsticks the first month and we sold 100 the first day.”
~Bobbi Brown of Bobbi Brown Cosmetics

“Making the documentary was an opportunity to pause, and look reflectively both forward and backwards at ourselves, and all the special people and at the underlying ethos which makes us tick.”
~Linda Fargo, Fashion Director, BG

"Bergdorf Goodman was the very first store that I sold to. My windows went in when I was 21 years old. They are the pinnacle of luxury in the world."~ Michael Kors
