TICKET TO THE TENTS: Joanna Mastroianni Fall 2013 Collection

Wednesday, February 13, 2013

As a fashion blogger it's obvious that I love fashion. But even with my sometimes "obsessive" passion, there are still designers that get past me, and Joanna Mastroianni is one of them. I've never before heard this name, but now I will never forget it.  Viewing her collection for New York Fashion Week was mouth-watering! Her line is easily in my top 3 from the entire week.  Other favorites so far have been Tadashi Shoji & Monique Lhuillier.

Joanna’s collection can be summed up into three words: glam, edgy & sexy.  A woman adorned in any one of her pieces would be the center of attention in any room.  Joanna’s silhouettes were uber-feminine ranging from short mini-dresses to long gowns.  Almost every piece had something that shined and sparkled.  Her designs focused on mixing fabrics over print, combining transparent nylon mesh with heavier fabrics choices.

The colors in Joanna’s collection were mainly black, silver & bronze in their true metallic hues with a few dresses in rich hues of red, purple, blue, and hot pink.  Accessories were fierce and came in the form of statement necklaces, metallic floral pins, and edgy hardware.  The garments were enhanced with arm cuffs, leather, fingerless gloves, and feathers and fur trims.

Joanna’s pairing of outerwear pieces with her chic, cocktail dresses were great.  The outwear pieces rivaled the dresses they were covering for attention.  Adorned with their own accents of textured fabrics, feathers, and hardware the coats were perfect compliments to the dresses.  The models were styled with slicked back hair pulled away from the face into a ponytail.  Their makeup was very natural and understated with a nice tangerine lip shade.
