RED CARPET REVIEW: 2013 Grammy Awards

Sunday, February 10, 2013

Last night the 55th Annual Grammy Awards kicked off with the usual Red Carpet hoopla! This year seeing what the stars arrived in, was more intriguing than usual due to CBS's "guidelines" to the guests on what they could wear.  These guidelines caused a lot of jokes and controversy, so let's see who followed the rules!

MENSWEAR - Changing the Game
These men strayed away from the norm with their red carpet looks.

RED in FLOOR LENGTH
My favorite dress out of this collection is Rihanna's.  It's actually see-through in just the right places, and fits her perfectly. I love the movement of the dress and it loos great with her lipstick and hair.

BRIGHTS
Not every gown needs to be in the standard red, white or black.  These ladies decided to come to the Grammys in bright hues.  I really liked Katy Perry's dress, and mostly because she can pull it off.  That dress is so tight, that you have you have the body for it and she does. She looks amazing.

BEIGE
Beige and nudes are always a favorite for the red carpet.  My favorite out of this collection is Taylor's J. Mendel dress. It's perfect for her body shape, and it makes me think Grecian. I love anything Grecian inspired.  Next I loved Giuiliana's dress. I'm not really a fan of the last two, but they fit into this category.

BRONZ & GOLD METALLICS
Metal, metal everywhere. These ladies favored dresses featuring shades of expensive metals.

BLACK in all NECKLINES
Black is always a popular dress choice for red carpets. This is interesting to me because black doesn't always photograph well, and it may be hard to see details, but typically there are more black dresses on the red carpet than any other color.  These ladies opted for floor length black gowns with a variety in the necklines.

BOLD PRINTS
These ladies opted to go beyond solid, monotone shades, and went for bold, vibrant prints.

LEGS - Show some skin
Even though CBS came out with "guidelines" for guests of the Grammy's to follow that didn't show too much skin, chest and butt, these ladies figured showing a little leg wasn't on the list.

BLACK in CUTOUTS
These ladies love to show skin, but in cut-out form. From bare cutouts to cutouts in nylon mesh, these ladies give the illusion of skin, but leave some things to the imagination.

MENSWEAR - Black & Blue
Out with the old, in with the new. Even though these gentlemen stuck more to the traditional tux silhouette, things were different.  They opted for "blue is the new black" jackets and detailed designs.

MENSWEAR INSPIRED
These ladies feel no pressure at all to wear dresses on the red carpet.  Taking a cue from our leading men, these ladies opted for pants, leggings, and tuxedo inspired looks.

COUPLES STYLE
Couples are hotter than ever on the red carpet, opting to take their photos together.  What do you think of these couples styles?  Do you think couples need to match on the red carpet?
