THE EVENT: New Year's Eve 2012

Thursday, January 03, 2013

I hope all of you have a wonderful time bringing in the New Year, and that you were safe! Too many people act crazy on New Year's Eve and unfortunately there are a lot of accidents, so here's hoping all of you are well.  This year I was in Pittsburgh for New Years, and hung out with my best friend Maggie. We're pretty low-key when it comes to NYE's celebrations.  I used to want to go to a club, etc, but I'm a big fan of just staying over at Hotel's and watching the crazy.  So we stayed at Pittsburgh's Marriot City Center. A very nice hotel, but of course it is since it's a Marriot. I have a confession to make. I have an obsession with staying in Hotels! I love it. From room service, to no distractions, plush beds and tons of pillows, I could stay  in a hotel every night and the Marriot was no exception.

Don't ask me why Maggie is making that face. She may be thinking, "Why the heck is Shalanda taking this picture of us in front of this mirror?"

Before heading out, we picked up dinner at the Marriot's bar: Steelhead Lounge, though OUR bartender wasn't the friendliest the atmosphere was fun and the food was yummy!

Maggie's semi-healthy cobb salad...any lettuce with that salad?
I had Pork Potstickers

One of the TV stations was on CNN and they were dramatically talking about this Fiscal Cliff. I decided to take a picture for historical
After dinner I wanted to take some shots near the hotel Christmas tree.  It was very pretty!

We were going to head back to my church for their watchnight services but it was snowing and then our church unfortunately lost heat and the rest of my family decided not to go so we opted just to do things downtown. So we headed to Rivers Casino and I lost $4.00 on penny slots. I don't even know why I waste my time on slot machines, and then we went to Point State Park to take pictures. Now don't get me wrong...I hate the snow, but I was so tempted by the pretty Christmas decorations over there that I had to venture out. Point Park is a recognizable institute of Pittsburgh.  The point is where all 3 rivers of Pittsburgh meet, The Monongahela, The Allegheny and The Ohio Rivers all meet at this point of the city.  For Christmas they put up a tree made of lights, and typically during the rest of the year the point has a fountain.

Though I love my natural hair, when it comes to braving the cold, I feel better in a wig, and I decided to sport my blonde one for pictures outside

Here's to a Blessed and Prosperous 2013
