VISIT DALLAS Part 1: Houston Fashion Bloggers in Dallas

Thursday, December 06, 2012

You may remember my blog post HERE about the Veronica, Director of Diversity Marketing for the the Dallas Convention Center & Visitor's Bureau (Visit Dallas) coming to Houston to meet with us.  hosting 10 bloggers at Perry's Steakhouse to teach us all about Dallas. During the lunch, Veronica invited us to spend a weekend in Dallas exploring the city.  Of course I'm not one to turn down an invitation such as that, and  happily set up a tour to visit the city over this past weekend with 5 of my Houston Fashion Bloggers. So Friday afternoon, Mimi, Vernetta, LeRenda, Taylor, Imani, & myself headed to Dallas for one of the most amazing roadtrips I've ever had! You can check out a lot of our fun by searching the #mydallas and #hfbroadtrip hashtags on Instagram and Twitter.

We road in style to Dallas renting a "Mommy Van" that wasn't like a mommy van at all!  We loved our 7 seater Dodge Caravan.  On the way we stopped in Corsicana to go to Collin Street Bakery.  Vernetta said it's a staple to stop there on the way to Dallas so we all had to oblige (twist our arm to stop at a bakery! Visit Dallas and Justin Sallee, Sales Manager for Crown Plaza gave each of us our own rooms at Crowne Plaza Dallas to stay in. How nice of them! Here we were thinking we'd at least be 2 per room :-). So after a quick check in and modification of outfits, we headed out to our first event, which was meeting the Mayor's Deputy Chief of Staff Shawn P. Williams at his #Realcity214 Tweetup.  I think it's really cool how politicians are embracing social media to listen to interact and listen to the needs of the citizens.  The event was held as this swanky hotel called NYLO, at their rooftop bar.  I LOVE rooftop spots.  I love being able to view the city and being outdoors and feeling on top of the world and that's exactly how we felt!

After the real city tweet up we headed to dinner at Dallas Chop House (DCH). DCH was super nice. We had our own private area to sit in, and the food was wonderful. We also explored the outside patio area with the live music. I'm all about ambiance. I want to feel relaxed and cool while chillin with friends, and I felt that way at DCH. I would definitely be a frequent visitor to their patio if I lived in Dallas.
