PRODUCT REVIEW: Spirit Ink Tattoos

Friday, August 17, 2012

About a week or so ago, I was contacted by the owners of Spirit Ink asking if I wanted to try out some of their temporary tats.  Of course at first I was a skeptical.  When I think of temporary tattoos it makes me think of when I was a little kid  and I would use those silly ones out of game machines or in cereal boxes, but once I went to their site and saw how unique they were I really wanted to try them!!!  They look like hand drawn sketches, and I like how they are sorted by collections.

The package arrived very quickly and I loved the packaging on it! From the stamped letters for the addresses on the envelope to the wax seal.  I also thought they'd only be sending one tat, but they sent seven. Seven is such a lucky number so I felt privileged!  When you order from Spirit Ink, the tattoos actually come in different sizes, ranging from small to extra large. Learn more about their tattoo sizing here.

Unfortunately when they first arrived last week, I was so busy I couldn't play around with them the way I wanted too, but I was finally able to Wednesday night.  Now the hardest decision I've ever had to make in my life in regards to this process...which tat do I apply first? Well I ended up applying 3 of them. They are supposed to last 1-2 days, so I wanted to save some for a later date.  I choose the anchor, stars, and the world love.  Though they are temp tats, I still don't want to push the limit too much at work, so I tried to put them on areas that weren't easily viewed, inside of ankle and on my inside wrists.

Applying the tats was super easy:

First you peel off the clear plastic cover which unveils the sticky side of the tattoo

Next you apply the tat, sticky side down on your skin. These stars went on my inner ankle
Hold down a wet towel for 10-15 seconds over  the tat or until the paper peels off or slides off.
Viola!
AND REPEAT

So how did Spirit Ink come about? You'd be surprised to know that fear is in it's history.  Three friends, Jane, Hayon, & Jennifer loved tattoos, but were afraid of needles.  I can't argue with them on that! I hate needles too! So needless (no pun intended) to say  with a fear of needles how would they ever be able to get tattoos? Realizing that the market for temporary tattoos focused on Chinese characaters and dragons, they created fresh designs to change the way people think about temporary tattoos.

  1. Such a cool idea! I never thought of a temporary tattoo as an accessory, but it works (would be especially good for someone like me, who is way too indecisive to get a permanent tattoo lol).
