WHAT I WORE: HFB March Meetup

Tuesday, April 03, 2012

I've been a huge fan of mixing prints before they were trending. I remember going to my interview at Express wearing a plaid top and a pinstripe skirt.  So when the opportunity to mix prints comes up, I jump on it.  This look I put together for our Houston Fashion Bloggers March Meetup. Some people may find it hard to mix prints so here are a few tips:
  1. Try mixing prints of the same color palette like I have done in this outfit.  Both the scarf and the dress are black and white, but one is an abstract geometric print, and the other is leopard.
  2. Put distance in between your prints. If you aren't ready to wear a spotted top with striped pants, wear a different print in a scarf, handbag, or pair of shoes
  3. Use similar print, but different color schemes (you will see an example of this by me in a post later this week)
  4. Don't be afraid to stand out.  When you mix prints, people will stare at you. Stay confident in your trending :-)
