Alta Moda Voyage

Sunday, April 22, 2012

One of my favorite events that occurs annually in Houston is the International Festival.  I've blogged about this fun event before, but never on its Fashion Show.  This is the 2nd year in a row in which Stage Producer & Fashion Designer Zoe Jackson-Jarra, as presented fabulous runway shows for the patrons of the Houston International Festival.  I attended the headliner show yesterday which featured clothes by Zoe's label Fashion Plate Lifestyle, Bengjof Couture (a private-label suit, dress shirt and accessories collection designed for the fashion-forward male), & Robert & Lonnie's Dance Galaxy. After the amazing show, I was able to snag a quick Q&A session with Zoe.
Me: What was your Inspiration behind this particular show?
Zoe: The show is entitled Alta Moda Voyage, and we know we would be doing our shows out of the pirate ship, so we wanted to display clothes that went with the theme, if you were stuck out at sea, what would you wear.  The clothes represent the glamor era of being on a ship back in the day where ladies wore amazing gowns, and men were in suits with a modern twist.

Me: Tell us more about Fashion Plate?
Zoe: Fashion Plate is the flagship of an concept to be all encompassing.  We service clients all around the world, and we have the social clientele of men & women who are looking for something unique and different to wear out on the social scene.

Me: How many years have you been involved with the Houston International Festival?
Zoe: This is our 2nd year, and we are doing 6 shows over the 2 weekends. Tomorrow we are featuring Melodrama Boutique at 5:15pm

Me: How did you end up working with the Houston International Festival?
Zoe: My family has been apart of the arts community for over 20 years. My husband is actually the one who introduced me to the event.  We own African Art Galleries and felt it was our duty to support as many artists as we can. One way to do that is to feature their businesses and designs in our Houston I-Fest Fashion Shows.
