Houston Bloggers from Left to Right: Crystal Milton, Kourtney Charles, LeRenda, Shasie, Imani
Earlier this week I was contacted by Everywhere Marketing & Communications about an upcoming Black History Month event at select Macy's stores nationwide. Macy's would be featuring the artwork of Romare Bearden (1911 - 1988) an African-American artist who is known as one of the most talented and original visual artists of the twentieth century. His artwork was supplied by the Romare Bearden Foundation. 2012 marked the 100th anniversary of Romare's Birthday and Macy's Diversity Department planned celebrations around the country, including our very own Macy's Hidalgo at Houston Galleria.

They were interested in having members of our Houston Fashion & Beauty Bloggers group along with our friends and family attend the event! In addition to being put on the list to for the exhibit, they offered our group funds to host an after-reception. I chose Aloft Hotel (W Hotel's Business Brand)'s W XYZ bar.  Here is a look at our night out with Macy's.

All artwork by Romare Bearden. This guy was extremely talented! I wanted all the pieces to hang in my house!
I love the way Macy's setup the event, it looked like a Museum Exhibit!

Macy's had complimentary Wine, Sparkling Water, and Mint Bunch for us, along with hors d'oeuvres

I don't think I've ever seen a white saxophone! This jazz band was amazing! They kept us highly entertained

The Event here in Houston, had such a great turnout!
Romare Bearden's Neice Spoke about her Uncle and the story behind some of his artwork
After mingling and networking with the crowd at the Romare Bearden event, us bloggers and our friends headed over to Aloft for our after reception!

We ordered a bottle of Champagne

Cheers to Fabulously Celebrating Black History Month!
