FAN FEATURE FRIDAY: LVFriday, November 11, 2011
Yay! Am I ever excited to present to you the lovely LV for Fan Feature Friday. I've been following LV's blog for what seems like forever now. I love her blog, and she is one of the most inspirational women I've had the pleasure of meeting over the fashion blogosphere. The title of her blog: Food, Fashion, & Flow alone draws you in, and the quality content makes you stay and come back for more!
Name: LV Davis
Age: Young enough to get into a lot of trouble, but old enough to know better :-)
Occupation: Public Relations Executive
Hometown Location: Los Angeles
Current Location: Los Angeles
Blog URL (if Blogger): http://foodfashionandflow.blogspot.com/
How did you come up with the name of your blog and how long have you been blogging?
The name of my blog comes directly from three of my biggest passions. I love to cook, I love fashion and I love to flow (write poetry). I was thinking about a name that would be all encompassing, easy to remember and catchy and then food fashion and flow was born. The word flow comes from my poetry and some of the slice of life content I love to write about.
How would you describe your personal style?
My style is constantly evolving, but I think the best way to describe it is sophisticated and classic with an edge. I am definitely a girly girl and I love having fun with accessories.
I discovered my love of words when I was in elementary school. That’s when I started keeping a journal and I often wrote my feelings or thoughts, which eventually turned into poems or stories. I have been very fortunate to have gotten published at a young age and to be able to write professionally in my public relations work.
What do you love the most about being a blogger?
What I love the most about blogging is the freedom to be creative, have a voice, inspire others and meet so many amazing people.
What are your goals for your blog?
I hope that my blog will inspire my readers in every aspect of their life and I hope that it is a place they can come for a word of encouragement, learn how to cook and entertain with style, get some great fashion inspiration and get to know me as I continue this amazing journey called life.
What is one of your favorite recipes that you have presented on the blog?
I think a few of my favorites are the rose petal ice cream, pulled barbecue chicken and pound cake sandwiches. I love entertaining and always have presentation in mind and how to do something spectacular, but with minimal effort. These recipes taste amazing, look amazing and are quick and easy and in our fast moving society, we don’t often have as much time to spend in the kitchen, but still want a great experience. A recent recipe I posted that I love is for garlic cheese biscuits, which I think are an indulgent and great comfort food snack.
Who are your style icons?
There are a number of style icons I love which include: Michelle Obama, Victoria Beckham, Shala Monroque, Audrey Hepburn, Queen Rania, June Ambrose, Naomi Campbell and Sarah Jessica Parker
You have been in inspiration to me with your messages on getting over rough relationships. How do you do it? Stay strong I mean, and keep hope?
GOD, GOD and more GOD. That is my foundation and everything else falls in line after that. I like to look at my relationships and the challenges in my life as learning experiences and opportunities to grow and stretch. Some experiences hurt when you are going through them, but make you so much stronger. I always look for the lesson in everything I go through and there is always a lesson if you look deep enough.
Do I have to pick just one? LOL. I love bold, bright colors like orange, pink, lime green …
What trend are you looking forward to the most for Fall?
I am looking forward to tunics, fur vests and boots!
Do you have favorite fashion magazines you love to read? Tell us what they are and why?
I love fashion magazines and if I could burn calories by reading I could probably eat more chocolate! My favorites are Instyle Magazine, Vogue, Elle and WW. I love Instyle for all of the great tips on fashion and home décor and entertaining and I love the features and amazing photography in Vogue and WW and Elle always has great editorials and superb writing.
Who are some of your favorite fashion bloggers?
There are so many that I cannot name them all, but some of my favorites are: FashionBomb Daily, Fashionista next Door, Cupcakes and Cashmere, Fashion Bananas, Atlantic Pacific, Zarna’s Runway and 9-5 Chic. I follow lots of blogs and am inspired by new bloggers and established ones. (I've heard and read all of those except Zarna's Runway. I'll have to check that one!)
What inspires your poetry?
My poetry is inspired by life and my personal experiences. Ever since I was a young girl I always found that my deepest thoughts always seemed to morph into powerful poetic prose and then I started sharing my poems and realized that many people could relate to the subjects I write about, or had experiences that mirrored mine. The content I write about comes from a very real and authentic place that I hope touches people.
Tell us how fashion where you live now compares to other places you have lived or visited?
I live in Los Angeles, which is a very easy breezy laid back city. Californians tend to have a casual stance and fashion can be a mixed bag between bohemian chic and glamour, but in New York and some of the other East Coast cities, I see a lot of high fashion and I love that people still get dressed up to go to dinner and to the theater.
My mother always emphasized spending money on classic pieces that stand the test of time. That is the best advice anyone could have given me because a classic piece of clothing can easily be updated with some funky accessories! I have many items in my closet that I wear season after season and I just update with new accessories.
Would you like to add anything else for my readers?
Thank you Shasie for the opportunity to share a little about myself with your readers. I love love love connecting with other bloggers so I look forward to discovering new blogs and new friendships! I hope your readers will visit my blog for creative inspiration and I look forward to connecting with your readers!
