CUPCAKES & COCKTAILS - A Girl's Night Out Soiree

Wednesday, November 02, 2011

Last Saturday I attended an event called Cupcakes & Cocktails.  First of all, who wouldn't want to attend an event with that name? The event was put on by Shunte Gamble-Davis, CEO of All Twisted By Design (ATBD, look for my interview with her tomorrow).  Proceeds from the event went to the Breast Cancer Foundation.  The event was held at the Crown Plaza on Kirby and 610.  From the moment I walked into the venue, I knew I was going to have a great time!!

The song "You Haven't Seen The Last of Me" by Cher from Burlesque was the perfect song to fit to my pictures from this Breast Cancer Awareness event!

Throughout this shopping extravaganza, the ladies & men were treated to delicious cupcakes from Ephiphanies and petite fors by Celeste Cakes N More, both sponsors of the event. I had a hard time controlling myself when walking by this table. I think I made at a minimum 5 repeated visits to it...Not only was the display enticing, but the cupcakes were so darn good!!!

And as you can see they didn't just have cupcakes but delicious Petite Fors!
All kinds from red velvet to vanilla
My cute press badge to cover the event

Hardy Rentals was a sponsor of Cupcakes & Cocktails and provided this really cool furniture for us to sit on!

How cute are these tables?
This table was my absolute favorite! It made me think of a wedding!

I love the petalesque table cloth!
Amos Gamble was the DJ. You can find him at Party Man Productions (Where Da Party Don't Stop Til U Drop). A-gamble@sbcglobal.net

Not only were we treated to great vendor products but we could purchase raffle tickets for amazing prizes. One of my favs was this high-heel tape dispenser from Scotch!

There was also a "Stomping out Breast Cancer" shoe contest.  We were asked to come in our baddest pink shoes.  Sadly I could not participate because I realized I don't have any pink shoes! Shame on me! Here are snapshots of the competing shoes:

Choice 1 on the left, 2 doesn't count because those are Shunte's shoes and she didn't participate, but I still had to show them because they are hot. You can't see in this picture but the underside of the heel as shinies!

 Choice 2&3
Choice 4 & 5
  Choice 6&7
  Choice 8&9

Which pair would you have voted for? Which one do you think won? Drum Roll Please!

The winner (Left) and the runner up (Right)!

Shunte invited Houston Mayoral Candidate Fernando Herrera to speak at the event.  Mr. Herrera is a cancer survivor and lost both of his parents to cancer.  I imagine speaking at this event was very personal for him, and he gave us very encouraging words. You can learn more our Mr. Herrara on his website:

This is the first time Shunte has put on Cupcakes & Cocktails and it will now be the official kick-off event for her Annual Total Beauty Ladies Event.  The 2nd edition of this event will be held this January on the 21st from 12 noon to 6pm at the Crowne Plaza.  While at C&C you were able to purchase a VIP ticket to the ladies event at an extreme discount of $10.00. Woot Woot! You know I bought mine! The VIP ticket includes a sweet beauty bag.  To purchase tickets to the event you can go to Shunte's website here: http://www.alltwistedbydesign.com/

Remember to come back tomorrow to learn more about Shunte Gamble-Davis, her company, and her passion to reach out and join the fight to defeat diseases.
