FASHION HOUSTON 2011 - Opening Night

Thursday, October 13, 2011

Howdy y'all! I couldn't be more proud of my adopted city. As the 4th largest city in the U.S., it's only fitting that Houston has a Fashion Week to rival the ever so coveted Mercedes Benz New York Fashion Week.  The 2nd Annual Audi Fashion Houston, kicked off with a bang on Monday Night.  The venue for the fashion extravaganza was none other than Houston's Wortham Center, an elegant location for fashion lovers.  For opening night I was covering the event as a Fashion Reporter for Fashionably Houston. You can check out my article on their website here.

Y'all know how crazy I am with pictures...so you can imagine that I took a bunch. For your viewing pleasure I have compiled them into a video slideshow to Beyonce's "Love on Top" track.  I've been in love with that song ever since she performed it at the 2011 MTV Video Music Awards.  Opening night for Fashion Houston featured looks from 4 designers: Jerri Moore, Barbara TFank, Project 360, & Douglas Hannant.  Each show was unique. Jerri Moore treated us to a video interview describing her use of fabric and design aesthetic.  Barbara's fabric choices were interesting and unique. Project 360 reminded us that Fashion is more than just a trend; it's a statement, and it can change the world. The evening closed with amazing looks by Douglas Hannant.  The tailoring and style of his show was the perfect finish to opening night.

There was a ton of other things to enjoy upon entering Wortham Center for Fashion Houston. A white tent had been constructed in front of the center to entertain guests before the show started. Inside the tent, guests had a variety of stations to peruse from mini-bars to pop-up makeup and beauty boutiques. And if that wasn't enough, there were 4 amazing Audi vehicles for your photo-ops! Here are some candids from opening night:

Jared Lang on the Red Carpet.
Fashion Designer, Jerri Moore and Fashion Houston Creative Director Neal Hamil.

  1. How freaking cool is this???? You look all pretty, stylish and official too! Hope you had a ball! I hope that Denver can be like Houstan. Maybe one day, when it grows up. Our fashion week was . . . not well planned. But it was our first one, so there is always room for improvement!
