Throwback Thursday For Real This Time

Thursday, June 16, 2011

Technically this is the "2nd" edition of Throwback Thursday, but the first one was on Sunday to introduce this new feature of my blog, so we'll call this one the first official one. In case you missed my Sunday post, which you can view HERE, I wanted to show some love to my outfits from when I first started my blog.  I started my blog in Feb 2010 and I only had a few followers, so I would love to share with you my outfits from then, show my style evolution and display my improvements in picture taking!! Let me know what you think.

Today will be outfits from March 2010. You can check out my February 2010 outfits in the Sunday Post. You can click on each picture to take you to that outfit post :-)

These next 2 may "look" like the same outfit but they are different because different hair, accessories, and top! Remixing!

The patterned top shot is one of my fav pictures, I was so mad when it was blurry :-(

As you can see this black t-shirt dress gets a lot of wear!

That last outfit I wore to my first "Rock" concert. I went to see Muse in concert and I was totally overdressed! I thought you were supposed to dress like a rockstar at rock concerts! LMAO!!

Those were my looks last March! Let me know what you think of them. Also please check out my post yesterday entitled "Sporatic Bloggging & Commenting" about my "mini" absence from the blogging community in the upcoming weeks. I will try to keep my features going "Throwback Thursday" and "Fan Feature Friday" for sure since I've had so much positive feedback on the both of them! I heart you guys, and I will miss reading your blogs everyday!! I will try to read them when I can!!

  13. What a fun feature! It's so impressive that you've been style blogging for so long :) And it's also great that it looks like you remixed a lot of great basics in these outfits!

By the way, I just wanted to paste my response to the question you asked me: "Thanks, Shasie! High-waisted full skirts are the best because they look cute AND require barely any fitting issues! The only measurement you need to fit is the waist and away you go! I didn't make this from a pattern because it's such a cinch. I barely use patterns actually because I don't know how to alter them yet, haha :)"

I think you mentioned before that you attempted to modify a skirt but the size didn't turn out right...oh no! The best way to avoid such a problem would probably be to check your pattern before you cut out, i.e., measure across the pieces to make sure that they suit your own measurements. Another way to make the best fit is to make a test garment first, basting the seams, and then checking and resizing the "muslin" on your body. You can then transfer these changes to the actual pattern and then cut out your fashion fabric. (But it's a long process and I usually make shortcuts, haha). Sorry that was so long-winded, but hopefully that will be useful for you! As always, take care! <3, jane
