Day 5 - Cozumel, Mexico

Tuesday, June 29, 2010 - by Shasie · - 0 Comments

ATV DAY!!! So I wanted to look ready for the wild ride, but also look cute...you know how I do. So i bought a pair of cargo pants and a cute shirt and threw on the necklace.  This is our cute ATV tour guide Jarod.  He called me Sexy girl from Houston! lolol

Ensemble:
Cargo Pants:  New York & Company
Top:  New York  & Company
Necklace: Don't Remember
Hat & Goggles:  Compliments of Wild Tours

After half of day of getting all muddied up, we went to Nachi Cocum, an all inclusive beach club on the beautiful beaches of Cozumel.  Needless to say it took us a good 20 minutes in the bathroom to go from ATV Mud Bath to Cute Girls in Bikinis...lolol

Ensemble:
Bathing Suit:  Miracle Suit Brand (Victoria's Secret)
We had a great time chillin on the beach!!!

Then back on the ship it was time for dinner!! Our Waiter was always teaching us a new trick every night.  This one was pour the wine out of the wine bottle with knocking over the cork...impossible right...but there's actually a solution, and it ACTUALLY worked! Amazing...
While we were in Mexico they beat France in one of the World Cup Games, so everyone in Mexico was soooo excited! It was so cute!!

Day 4 - Grand Cayman, Cayman Islands

Monday, June 28, 2010 - by Shasie · - 0 Comments

On Day 4, we docked at Grand Cayman, Cayman Islands.  Because we were touring all day I wore tennis shoes. I have to say this isn't one of my favorite outfits because I feel that the shoes ruined the outfit.  Cute flip-flops would have been so much better, but I wasn't sure how much walking we were going to be doing, so to be comfy I opted for these high-tops. In hind site I guess I could a packed a pair of canvas shoes, etc or something...but there's only so much a girl can pack!!

Ensemble:
Romper:  Express
Hat:  Target
Shoes:  Nike (Lady Foot Locker)
Bathing Suit:  Macy's

Then it was time to get on the beach and in that pretty clear water. A trip to Cayman Islands is not complete without seeing 7-mile beach...

Upon returning to the ship I changed into this romper. It's so comfy! It's just annoying when you have to go to the bathroom, because you have to unbutton all the buttons in the front.

Ensemble:
Romper:  Target
Headband:  Not sure

Then it was finally time for dinner.  I really love this dress. It's so unique. I love the two different patterns.  I ended up returning these shoes. They are very cute, but just WAY too uncomfortable.  So I returned them...still in need of white sandals for the summer...:-(
Ensemble:
Dress:  Target
Shoes:  Bakers

This day I caught awesome pictures of the sunset from the ship:

Day 3 - Sailing Day - 4 Outfits

Sunday, June 27, 2010 - by Shasie · - 0 Comments

After watchiing SATC2, I wanted to add a little bling to my poolside attire.  While I was on my trip in Allentown, I stopped at King of Prussia Mall and shopped at H&M...because there are no H&Ms in Houston :-(.  At H&M I picked up this very festive tunic.  I love it!

Ensemble:
Bathing Suit Tunic Cover-Up:  H&M
Flip Flops: J. Crew
Bathing Suit:  Miracle Suit Brand (Macy's)
Shades:  NY&Co
Hat:  Don't Remember

Then after getting all wet in the pool, I had to put on a roam around the ship during the day outfit.  As you can see I greatly love this hat, because it pretty much worked with every outfit, and protected my hair, scalp, and face from the blazin' sun.

Ensemble 2:
Espadrilles:  Payless
Shorts:  Express
Tank Top:  Express
Beach Bag: Target
Then instead of having the formal night be the last night on the cruise ship, formal night ended up being Tuesday night. So I had to pull out my sparkly cocktail dress.  As previously mentioned in my other vacation blogs, the ship kept the A.C. on blast, so when not at the pull it's a good idea to have a shawl, or a jacket. So with this dress I wore this black shrug.

Ensemble 3
Espadrilles:  Payless
Dress:  Express
Shrug:  White House|Black Market
Clutch:  NY&Co
Christina got to take a picture with the Captain of our ship:

This is the group sitting at the Captain's Welcome Aboard Reception:

Then after dinner it was time to go out! First we went to Karaoke night, then we went up to Viking Crown Lounge.  I didn't want to go out in my cocktail dress so once again, I changed again. It's a good thing that when I packed, I packed for all contingencies and events, because I JUST had enough outfits for the whole trip!!!

Ensemble 4:
Shoes:  Chinese Laundry (DSW)
Dress:  Express

Here is my friend Torrina and the outfit she wore to Viking Crown Lounge:

Definitely a great 3rd day on the ship!!!

Day 2 - First Day on the Cruise Ship - 2 Outfits

Saturday, June 26, 2010 - by Shasie · - 0 Comments

For Embarkation (getting on to the ship), I wanted to wear a fun sailing outfit with comfortable shoes because I knew that we would be standing in a few lines, and then exploring the ship... So that is outfit number one.  I pretty much kept that outfit on all day until dinner time.  As I mentioned in my Packing for a Caribbean Cruise Blog, there is a strict dinner dress code, so I had to change into the outfit # 2.  I will tell you that our ship did not have irons, so I had to pay $3.00 to get my pants ironed for dinner.  I cannot be seen in wrinkly clothes if it can be helped.  The ships tend to have the A.C. on blast at all hours of the day, even when it cools off a little bit in the evening, so make sure to pack a jacket.  I went around in my jean jacket as shown in the last picture below.

Ensemble 1
Shorts:  NY&Co
Top:  NY&Co
Headband:  NY&Co
Flip-Flops:  J. Crew

Ensemble 2
Pants: Can't Remember but they are Dockers Brand
Flip Flops:  Target
Top:  NY&Co

Day 1 - 4 Outfits in 1 Day - Fort Lauderdale& Miami

Friday, June 25, 2010 - by Shasie · - 0 Comments

Outfit Number 1
This is what I wore on the plane and then when it was time to go to the beach, I just threw on the hat and a bathing suit on under the dress.  This dress is very comfy. It's from Target and is soft and is flowy.  Makes a nice Beach Cover Up or a Summer Dress.  The Beach Bag is also from Target. I picked it up for $10.00 right before the cruise. I like it because it has 4 exterior pockets. Ever go to the beach and you have to hunt to the bottom of the bag for your camera, wallet, and smaller items?? Well I put that stuff in the exterior pockets and Access was so much better.

Ensemble:
Dress:  Target
Flip Flops:  J. Crew circa 2002??
Beachbag:  Target $10.00
Hat:  Don't remember, but floppy beach hats are readily everywhere this time of year
Outfit Number 2
This is the bathing suit I wore to the Florida beaches.  Some people say I could have gotten away with a two-piece, but if I don't feel comfortable I'm not going to do it. It's all about your comfort zone.  Unfortunately I am extremely top-heavy and that makes it hard to wear "cheap" bathing suits, because they either don't cover enough, or they don't support enough.  So I usually have to pay a pretty penny for my suits. I tend to order all my bathing suits from Victoria's Secret, because they offer them based on bra-size.  This one was not from Vicky S, it was a Miracle Suit on-sale at Macy's
Ensemble:
Miracle-Suit Bathing Suit:  Macys ($80.00)
Outfit Number 3
Of course coming back from the beach, my dress was wet, so I had to change for dinner.  We did have plans to go out later that night, but I didn't want to wear my going out dress to dinner, since we were just going to eat in the hotel, so I pulled out another one of my bathing suit cover-up dresses and accessorized to make it not look so plain

Ensemble:
Dress:  Some cheap store in the Mall in PA, circa 2007
Necklace:  NY&Co
Headband:  NY&Co
Outfit Number 4
For going out in Fort Lauderdale, I wanted to look super cute.  So I pulled out this ruffle dress.  I have to say this dress was almost not worn.  Being top-heavy, it makes it hard to wear tube dresses, because without the straps on the strapless bra, the bra tends to fall down, and you are forced to pull it up all night. So I decided to leave the straps on, but then that wasn't cute to me anymore, so right before we left, I ended up removing the straps, and keeping them in my purse just in case, and just dealt with the nuisance of always having to pull my dress and bra up.  Had I had more time, I probably could have engineered something with safety pins, which is what I've had to do before in the past!!!
Ensemble:
Dress:  Express
Belt:  Closet
Shoes:  Chinese Laundry (DSW)
Strapless Bra:  Victoria's Secret

All in all it was a good first day of vacation with friends

Packing for a Caribbean Cruise

Monday, June 21, 2010 - by Shasie · - 4 Comments

I don't know about y'all but when I go on vacation I like to do it big...and that includes cute outfits!! One downfall of packing many outfits is having a heavy suitcase!!!  But fashion is pain sometimes right??  First of all packing for this trip was a nightmare...I really felt overwhelmed. Unlike going to Vegas, where it's pretty much day clothes, and going out clothes I felt stuck when it came to the cruise. I had to really think about what I would be doing each and everyday.

For Shore Excursions I recommend the following:
1.  Comfortable pair of walking shoes, if you are doing any outdoor related activities, make sure you bring a pair of old shoes, or shoes that you are ok with getting messed up!
2.  Backpack with mesh side pockets - the pockets hold water bottles, the backpack for beach towel, flip-flops, beach hat, maps, port books, souvenirs, wallet, camera, extra camera battery, sunglasses, snacks, and bathing suit, plastic bag for shoes, and plastic bag for clothes

3.  Change of clothes if you are atving, etc and get all muddy and dirty
4.  Water Bottle (can fill up on the ship before leaving for the port)

5.  Snacks!!! Definitely scooped up a banana and 2 boxes of cereal from the breakfast buffet, and they came in handy!

For Pool Lounging
1.  Beach Hat - The sun is intense on the pool decks of ships

2.  Beach Bag - camera, sunglasses, magazines, books, beach towel,
3.  Beach Shoes (shoes that won't slip and slide walking on watery pathways)
4.  Beach Cover-Up - Not all of us are trying to get tan!! lol

For walking around the ship - Day
1.  One piece rompers - very easy and quick to change into and very comfortable. I bought both of mine from Target and Express
2.  Bathing Suit w/Beach Cover-Up  - Never know when you and your friends may just want to jump in randomly
3.  Shorts and a Tank - May go rock-climbing, zip-lining, etc
4.  Sundresses - Want to look cute??  Sundresses work as bathing suit cover-ups and outfits, so depending on your mood, go for it.  Also easy to put on and accessorize as it's one piece

Casual Dinners  - Night
On this particular cruise, we only had one formal dinner night, and the rest were casual dining.  The ship had it's own dress code for eating in the fancy dining room, which basically was "Sport shirts and slacks for men, sundresses or pants for women".  I pretty much stuck with this dress-code and wore dresses 4 nights, and a pants outfit the very first night.
Let it be known that they do NOT provide Irons in your stateroom, so either try and iron and fold perfectly before you pack, bring non-wrinkly clothes, or be prepared to spend money to have the staff launder your items for you, which is what happened to me.  I can't be seen wrinkly...lolol

Formal Dinner - Night
Depending on the length of your cruise you may have 1 or more formal dinner nights.  I saw some people on the ship with dresses that looked like Prom Dresses...I think that's a bit much, just a nice cocktail dress with some pizazz works fine for this...and heels! Don't wear flip-flops on formal dinner night!!! You'll also want to bring a fancy clutch, or pizzazz purse, because your beach bag will not work for this atmosphere!!

Evening Activities (Comedy Shoes, Game Shows, Onboard Clubs)
Depending on the time of your dinner and your dinner attire, you can possibly get away with wearing what you wore to dinner out for the evening activities. I did this a couple times, but I also overpacked, so I had some extra outfits for evening activities.  I had some cute flashy dresses from Express, and the one night I wore just a romper, and the other night I wore my pants outfit that I wore to dinner...

Other Miscellaneous Items
1.  Alarm Clock
2.  A way to keep time...watch, belt watch, etc
3.  Hair Products, shampoo, & conditioner, and hair-ties. You will regret being in the heat with no ponytail holders of claws!!
4.  And last but not least, don't forget to check with your cell-phone carriers on your phone plans for traveling internationally
5.  Cash
6.  An extra bag to carry home your "duty-free" items such as liquor and souvenirs!!!

7.  Over the shoulder bag

8.  Mini-wallet -  you'll find that you'll need to carry your "ship card", and ID, and cash for the casino, or cash for on shore. If you don't want to take your whole wallet with you, or all your cash, buy a mini wallet or change purse to split your items up.  Put the rest in the safe.

9. Pens/Pencils for marking itineraries
10.  Camera Case
11.  I'd recommend 2 pairs of tennis shoes...1 for working out and getting dirty, and another cute (canvas like, for tours, etc)
12.  Travel Size Sunblocks to go to port...no one wants to carry around those monstrous size sun-blocks, so pack a mini one to go ashore, trust that will cover you til you get back to the ship!

13.  Bug Spray - When ATVing in the jungle you WILL NEED BUGSPRAY!!

NeckTie

Monday, June 7, 2010 - by Shasie · - 0 Comments

Ensemble:
Top:  NY&Co
Skirt:  Express
Shoes:  Connie (Famous Footwear)

I absolutely love the back of this skirt with the ruffles on the bottom

Lately my outfit A-Game has been on a B-Game in the morning. Typically I can wake up in the morning and put something together fairly quickly, but with packing for the cruise (clothes everywhere) and the humidity (what can I wear so I don't die of a heat stroke) has been cramping my style.  I try to keep in mind that I'll mostly be in Air Conditioning, so I try and not let the humidity hinder my outfit choices too much.  I mean even though it's warm outside there are are still dresscodes to follow at work...:-/. If I could wear shorts and a tank to my job, I gladly would!!
